We have an XLT EB AWD on order (order date 12/30/21) with full size spare, floor liners and mats and, I thought, a drop in bed liner. A few months back the dealer called and asked if we wanted to drop the SIBL due to constraints, so we did and asked him to add the DIBL. This week we got a VIN, supposedly for production in August. I looked online at the options Ford has us scheduled for and lo and behold, no bed liner at all on the order. So I think the dealer dropped the ball. I called and he checked and confirmed it wasn't on the order but he said they would order a DIBL and have it when the truck arrived and install it as a dealer-installed option. My question...is there any substantive difference in getting it installed at the factory vs at the dealer?

No. There's a DIY video on YouTube of a guy who installed his OEM drop in liner that he purchased from the dealer or Ford parts website. I'm sure its the same process whether someone at the factory does it, you do it yourself, or at the dealer. Its a 5 pc kit either way. My January order also got ordered with the drop in in place of the spray in one that was supposed to be included. Ive seen some pics and a couple in person that came in at the dealer and they don't look bad at all. I'll be happy with it I think.

Our order was the same as yours but with the DIBL from the start. Love the Maverick and the looks of the bed liner and have no complaints. We have the storage cubbie on the passenger side of the bed and was surprised there was no cubbie on the driver's side. It might be worth your time to ask if there is supposed to be one because it may provide access to something electrical. We don't have that need and didn't ask our dealer about it, but if it was supposed to be there and you were expecting that access, you might inquire before it gets installed at the dealership..

Good luck.

Mine was ordered with the luxury pkg which does come with that drivers side household plug and the LED light in that space. You can buy the same storage box as is on the passenger side and it will fit on the drivers side but that may require removing that section of the bed liner side to cut out the square hole for it. I think Ive seen where there are markings on the back side of it for that purpose. Enjoy your maverick!
