Dealer asked for my ID

I placed an order for my Mav on 6/10. Hybrid Lariat w/ Luxury Package, Area 51. Got a message from the dealer on Thursday asking for a picture of my license/ID because they are trying to move me up the queue and needed an ID for it. Anyone know what that's about? I guess it's to stop dealers from "faking" customers to get inventory?

Ford wants to make sure people are not ordering multiples and dealers are not faking retail orders for stock

Dealership took pic of my drivers license the same day I placed my order.

Same here, dealer made a copy of my drivers license, had me sign the DORA, and required $100 deposit. Not long afterwards I received an email with the assigned VIN. Build week confirmed for 9/20. Order placed 6/30.

When they were preparing my order build date, my dealership asked for my license stating Ford is being very strict with the ordering process. Sounds normal to me.

Excellent point! I almost got duped at Myrle Beach by someone claiming to be from the FBI trying to get my information. Turns out, there isn't even an organization known as the Female Body Inspectors and his t-shirt was fake.

You answered your own question - correct, Ford needs to verify that dealers are not submitting orders to stock their lots since Ford is not taking Stock Orders yet!

Simi Valley Ford did a person to person confirmation of my order and I signed it. Also when I went in to pay my $100 refundable down payment they copied my DL. easy peasy!!!
