Wow, I remember you could purchase these full kits online and install yourself (easier than you think) for about $800. All these women walking around in leather pants these days must have driven up leather prices.

i found it, you can order custom fit seat cover by Coverking from Costco, it's on $529.99, but Im now sure it says "2 ROWS" mean only front 2 seat, or front and rear......anyone tried before?

This isn’t comparable to Katzkin. These are neoprene, Katzkiin is full leather including the door panels and center console. To be honest, $2K for full leather installed isn’t too shabby. I’d get heating and cooling if it’s an option.

There used to be a place you could buy direct to consumer and install yourself. This was quite a few years ago, maybe 6 or 7.....I don't think Katzkin sells direct to consumer, I believe you have to schedule to have it installed by one of their authorized installers.
you can buy them still but they won’t have warranty. I looked into it.

To be clear, the Katzkin upholstery sets are not "seat covers'.

They do not cover over your existing upholstered seats like something you buy from Amazon or Pep Boys. This is OEM quality upholstery that you install in place of your existing fabric or vinyl - the old upholstery comes off.

Yes it is a project you can do yourself but it can be very involved, laborious, and requires a number of special tools and patience. People can really screw stuff up which is why they only really want to sell their product through "authorized installers'.

Sometimes you can find an upholstery shop who will sell their product to you out the door which is what I have done in the past. Still, after having done this a few times, it's worth paying for installation. It really is. If something isn't right you can bitch about it and get it corrected if a shop does it. If you do it yourself and it isn't perfect, you have only your own regret or continued work to do.
