Am I the only one who can’t figure this out or is it just something the mav doesn’t do?

Check the instrument cluster settings. There's an auto unlock setting. In mine I'm virtually certain it unlocks all doors when I put it in park

Yup, checked that. It’s on.

It’s sure is, and tells me nothing.

The slight annoyance is this, when I pull up to pick up my daughter from school and put the mav in park it does not automatically unlock. Since I am so used to such a feature it’s not until the teacher pulls on the handle that I remember that I have to push the unlock button.

Yeah, so sorry about that. It appears the Autounlock feature is not the same as other vehicles. Reading the following, it appears shifting into Park is not one of the requirements.

AUTOUNLOCK REQUIREMENTS
Autounlock unlocks all the doors when all of the following occur:
• The ignition is on, all the doors are closed and your vehicle is moving at a speed greater than 12 mph (20 km/h).
• Your vehicle comes to a stop.
• You open the driver door within 10 minutes of switching the ignition off or to the accessory position.

Looks like you would have to use the unlock button (door panel) or wait for the teacher to place her hand under the door handle for locks to unlock.
