For a long time I've just left the drive mode selector in the default Normal mode. Only recently I've started playing with the various modes.

Initially I really liked the Sport mode for it's ability to simulate gears shifting. However, lately I think I've found my favorite. Probably to everyone's surprise I really like the Slippery mode. I found that this mode is good for two reasons. First it let me coast as it applies the least amount of regenerative breaking and secondly I found that it keeps the RPMs lower than when in Normal mode which helps keeping the noise level down.

I know it's not the most performing mode but I didn't buy the Mav Hybrid for spirited driving.

Let me know your preference.

Mostly ECO mode when I remember.
Haven't really tried Sport mode or Slippery mode.
Slippery mode sounds like fun.

I enjoy the one-pedal-driving-esque behavior of eco a lot. Feels cool slowing down so much when you let go of the brakes, like you’re driving a big truck with lots of aerodynamic resistance and weight.

I down shifted in cars for 30yrs, so when we got our Chevy Volt “L” gave that engine brake feel. I’ll probably go with Eco to get the best regen and one pedal feel when our Mav gets here.

Eco mode is my primary driving mode right now. Smooth power and decent regeneration when I let up on the gas.

I like Slippery too because of the coasting instead of braking when you are trying to nurse from hybrid mode into battery mode. Plus it greatly reduces the brake grabbing when stopping. I get 1 MPG better mileage in Slippery mode vs ECO mode to boot.

Normal mode here. Just because I don't want to select Eco every time, and I'm getting 45mpg combined.

I love Eco. I feel more in control with stronger regenerative braking when I take my foot off the gas. The leaf icon makes me feel superior too!

Not that I drive on beaches much but I would assume slippery would be the worst mode. It's the opposite of "sand" mode on the fx4 packages. You would probably want the tires to keep spinning if you lose traction, so I would use normal tc off.

I was going to say Eco, that's why I bought the truck, gas. But facts reported above are leading me to try Slippery, not assumptions to try Normal.

I started out mostly using normal mode, but lately I've been giving eco a try. I find I really like the extra regen braking, and the brakes in general seem to behave a little better at very low speeds. Gas mileage doesn't seem much different either way for me, so I guess it's a battle between lively throttle response and regen braking in my head. As near as I can tell, you still get maximum thrust in eco if you ask for it. You just have to dig deeper into the throttle for it, so I expect I'll probably stick with eco for now.
Personally I don't care for the artifice of simulated shifting, so "sport" is out for me. Also don't like burning extra fuel for no good reason.
And as for "slippery" mode, I'm not a fan of excessive coasting....so no thank you. Engine braking hasn't really been a thing for decades unless you're driving diesels, and just about every car I've owned went down hills like a lead balloon. It sure is nice to be held back a bit for a change. And getting some of my energy returned in the bargain seals the deal for me.
I'm more interested in how the various modes effect battery life and conditioning. I've heard that eco mode allows the state of charge to vary more widely, and I wonder if that is good for the battery long term...or bad. Any insights?

Modern batteries 'like' being charged/discharged. It actually makes them last longer.
