So you think a 2.0 EB Maverick built on the same platform as the escape 2.0 and Bronco sport 2.0 is averaging less mpg then those two models who’s real world mpg has already been posted by multiple sources?
That is highly improbable.
What mpg do you see?
Im not familiar with either of those vehicles but I assume they have different gear ratios and weights than the maverick.
On fuelly.com I see 22.8mpg for the bronco sport and 27mpg for the escape. The 25mpg in this post seems right in line with those numbers to me.

I've posted this before. Not sure it will help you but I hope it does..

BOTH my Toyota Avalon and Lexus ES300h are hybrids. BOTH have a 2.5l 203 HP engines. I have the Lexus set to EV mode which is Economic. Not Normal or Sport. I literally burnt rubber pulling out of the Post Office this morning. YES, in Eco mode!!!

I am averaging 44 MPG on both. Having said that, I am using 89 octane Ethanol Free fuel. The cars accept Regular 87 octane but I did NOT realize the 44 MPG. It was more like 38 MPG average.

Here is a snapshot form my Fuelly app:

That’s awesome. With my normal driving distance, assuming the Maverick gets just 40, I can go almost 3 months without filling up. Haha. Here’s to hoping!

Yes 25 mpg combined is about right.
People saying 25 mpg highway are way off. It will be close to if not 30 mpg highway 70-75 mph.

I know people with stock 5.0 V8 Mustangs getting 25 mpg highway. They weigh around 4300 lbs full premium with auto.

Weight has about 0 to do with highway mpg, the Reynolds number x the frontal area X the velocity ^2 has a direct correlation as does the rolling resistance

I disagree, take two similar vehicles the mustang for example and drop 600 lbs from one vs. the other you’ll see which gets better gas mileage.
It won’t be the heavier one.

Only in as much as rolling resistance changes. On a flat surface the potential energy never changes so mass not an issue at steady speed ( most highway driving is close to that) sure when you are constantly changing velocity or going up and down hills, but nothing compares to that velocity squared component and then the Reynolds number. Not even rolling resistance

that Reynolds number is vastly different between shapes and even changes based on other factors such as air density, temp, humidity and even velocity, so it’s really a differential equation, or if it’s a really simple shape closer to a linear function for low velocities.

now when we get into air cells and linear flow things will change again (my first engineering apprenticeship was in fluid dynamics)

The trainer truck(2.0 Ecoboost) I saw in DFW showed 24.9 mpg average. It also showed 1/2 tank left and 186 miles to empty. The math would show based on a 16.5 gallon tank that it’s roughly averaging 22 mpg on that tank. The trainer told me he drove from downtown Dallas to the dealer located in North Richland Hills. That drive is 90% highway. That’s just my 2 cents based on a real world situation.

This is exactly where I would put my money in regards to mpg. Average will be 23-25. I orderedan AWD ecoboost and Im good with that.
