Those who have sat in a Mav, do you think a family of 4 could road trip in it? Or would that end up being claustrophobic? Could you find a position to nap in the back seat?

I guess it really depends on length of trip and overall size of occupants. I test-sat a Hyundai Santa Cruz a week ago, I'm 6 ft 4 in 225 lbs, front seat comfort/headroom no problem (even with moonroof on SC), rear seat OK as long as front seat was 3/4 of the way forward.

Sat in one at the Auto Show, im 6'5" 260lbs. I could road trip as the driver, probably as the passenger, but it would be uncomfortable in the back. The kids (6 & 4) would be totally fine in the back.

Didn't last down in the back seat, not sure it was the right venue for that haha

I’m sure young kids like mine (9 & 5) will find ways to fall asleep. They’re used to sleeping in back seats when we go on road trips. I’m sure the space for four will be fine.

I'm 6'0" and 260lbs. My wife is even shorter. Twin 5 yo boys! Thinking about trips not only now, but in years to come.

We have almost 9 year old twins (boy/girl) and I would think / hope this will be fine for 3 to 4 hours trips well in to teens.

I hope so! It may also turn into their first ride. We shall see!

I expect the ride to be comparable to a mid sized SUV based on the weight and wheelbase.

Of course Ford could have given it a stiffer "truck" suspension.

Until people are allowed to do test drives we won't know for sure.

In 2020 we took my 2019 Ranger from Michigan to Maine over 2 weeks on the road and visiting many places along the way. There were 4 adults and our luggage was in the bed. It has a BakFlip trifold tonneau cover and a bed rug that seals the bed from water so everything stayed dry. Everyone was comfy.

Since the Maverick will have comparable interior dimensions I see the Maverick being up to that duty. The only concern for duplicating that Maine trip would be reduced volume in the bed. The Ranger bed is deeper so we were able to stack suitcases and dive gear. The Maverick will likely not accommodate that and it is shorter as well. The passengers would be just as comfy but some people would need to pack lighter.

Thank you for the detailed response. I am not ordering the bed cover because I envisioned myself using more of the vertical space in the bed. I'm pretty surei could use the tie downs to secure everything, the weather would be the issue.

I'm interested in this as well, and my inclination is that it'll be great for a family, at least until kids become teenagers. Even then it probably won't be a problem, unless you have some really tall teens. That'll be about ten years down the road for me, so I'm set for a while, I think.

Exactly where I'm at. I've got twin 5 year old boys. We'll see how it lasts, but it might even be their first vehicle.

I had the same thought about my daughter. Last new vehicle I bought I kept for ten years, if I do that with the Maverick it'll be right around her 16th birthday when I start getting itchy for something else.
