Read quite a few complaints on Reddit regarding the seat material lifting and folding up on quite a few Maverick XL and XLT models. There is even a Youtube video from one owner and he claimed Ford wouldn't fix it. Same thing was said by several owners I read yesterday. Anyone here had that experience?

The issue is that it’s not attached to the padding underneath, so let’s say you lean in with a hand on the seat to grab something out of the middle, when I pull your hand away it will be all bunched/wrinkled up…. It’ll go back to normal (but the question is for how long will it co to ie to go back to normal)

Looks like cheap material, I will run seat covers so not a huge issue for me.
I sat in a base hybrid XL last week. Material seemed exactly the kind I have in my 2012 Chevy Colorado. After 10 years and a 126,000 miles, the seats have done very well. No issues.

I don't think it's a question so much as to the material they're made of, more about the fitment and how they wrap around the padding. I've taken apart quite a few seats installing leather covers for family and friends and all manufacturers use minimal "connection" points to the actual pad. It seems like the cover is almost too loose around the pad or maybe not being stitched together properly and that's why it's bunching up.

Any chance, these are the ones that sat in the heat in Mexico for weeks waiting for the microchips ? Don’t know how hot it got inside the vehicles all that time with the windows up.

Nope, has nothing to do with the heat and in my opinion probably has to do with the way the seat covers are stitched together at the factory. There have been issues reported with the seats long before any Mavericks sat in a lot in Mexico plus it's currently not extremely hot at the Hermosillo plant (Highs in the 80s this time of year) Ever buy clothing from Marshals or TJ max? Ever notice that sometimes you'll buy a button down shirt from them and the buttons don't line up straight with your gig line? They were sold to Marmax at a discount because they were improperly sewn together, happens all the time and this could be the case with the Maverick seat covers.

Gig line.....nice. Somewhere in my life, I heard that term used.

I'm sure we've pushed some of those memories out of our brains either with therapy, alcohol or both.
I thought Alcohol WAS therapy .......... damn. :)

Never have trouble with buttons, but I do notice clothing fabric shrinks significantly during the Winter.
