Now this may come off as odd to say but legit it is something I had not ever experienced. It has been quite rainy here as of late, and I have other family vehicles in the driveway where the maverick sits as well that have been rained on. They have all dried in a timely manner or atleast a majority of the water whisked away. However the maverick seems to have rain stick to it like glue. It collects on the windows , the body etc. Even when driving it barely goes anywhere.

Now when I was buying it when they were detailing it they did put a paint protection film on it and got the paint protected warranty since it is outdoors and not garaged. Again this may sound greenhorn or stupid but perhaps this is what is keeping the pickup so wet for so long? The film they put on to protect the paint? Or perhaps something else. Not a huge deal but it is quite odd and I wonder why water pools up on it so much and on the windows like crazy.

So they used a paint protection spray or film?

Im not sure but im going to assume spray…since they told me they were gonna do it when they were going to detail it before I took delivery but in earnest I dont have an answer on that. Wish I did. Either way, rain water sticks to it like glue.

Mine had a glue like substance on it. Took about 5 washings to get it off. Looked like water but when I touched them it was sticky

That sounds very odd that it doesn’t even dry when driven

Hmm interesting, id have to check next time and see if it too is sticky. I hadn’t seen or experienced that as of yet but its entirely possible. 5 washings isnt too bad. Odd though on the substance on it.

Correct, 100% odd. Very odd. The paint, the windows all of it. Water clings to it like crazy. I parked it 3 hours ago and if i go outside right now it wouldn’t be surprised if it still isnt wet from the rain like 10 hours ago. It shouldnt do that thats for sure.

Not sure about the factory protection but when i use aftermarket it beads the water. Which will stay wet longer cause the water in one bead instead of spread out to evaporate faster. Not sure if this is what is happening but the water should travel across the surface and not stick if moving...

It could be, again im not sure but it’s good to hear some info atleast to know somewhat what’s going on. It’s supposed to freeze tonight so I rushed out there to dry it with a towel so it’s not an icicle in the morning. I just went out there and it was still super wet , like soaked from 10 plus hours ago. Whereas the other vehicles in the driveway were only somewhat wet still. It’s odd indeed and makes me think it was whatever they used for paint protection when detailing it. If it were garaged I bet it wouldn’t be as much if an issue but alas not an option.

The theory is it was left by the protective film that sat on it for months while the epa held it up

I know this is old school, but I wax my car. I assume that wax is hydrophobic as it also causes water to bead up. Except that wax must also be sick as it causes those beads to then run down the car. Because it's happening on your windows as well, I'm sure it's from the pfas laden chemical they applied to the paint. Either that or just some silicon from transport.

You'll know in time after a car wash.

Thanks for the info! Good to know that after a wash or two it’s gonna even out some and dry out faster. I guess we will find it soon.
