I priced it out with lux pak on XLT. It only adds leather wrap on the wheel. Also adds copilot 360 which I do not want. Seats do not change to a vinyl like covering. .

XLT Lux Shouldn’t add co pilot 360, that’s a separate option. At least it is in Canada. Big advantage to going Lariat imo is Leather, better head and tail lights and the sound system. All other options are interchangeable between XLT and Lariat. Oh and the grill bar if that’s something you are into! Either way I don’t think there is a bad choice, you will love it either way

They must package the options differently in canada for some reason. Honestly I just wanted a base XL 2.0T AWD and 4000 lb trailer tow group and a sun roof if I coulda got cruise control, and vinyl seats. I tend to customize everything i own , so the first thing to go would have been the stock XL steel wheels and tires.

Cruise is not avail on XL as an option, neither is vinyl seats. But I coulda made due with the dark charcoal cloth in the XL, but cant do without cruise control. Texas is a big state and i use my cruise control a lot. Since I'm about 1 year out from buying one, I'm saving my cash, for a lariat to get both those things, plus those option availabilities may change for 2023. And maybe the cruise would become available on XL. If that happens, I can always get Katskin leather seat upholstery and recover the seats.

i like your thought process, cruise control is a must for me as well. Katskin does such a great job with their seat skins :) tough pickle to be in!
All I know is whatever setup you land on you’ll be happy with the truck :) I think there are many on the forums that would agree with me!

Welcome to the club! I love that color too!
Before mine arrived, the orange was the only one I ever saw in person, in a Vons parking lot. 🧡🍊 Enjoy it!

The other point others have made is that an AWD plug in hybrid is available on the ford escape but is not on the maverick. I would prefer a hybrid over straight gasoline if it was plug in and AWD and shy away from the 2.0T engine. Anything I would pull trailer wise would be limited to a small utility trailer. I have a full size V8 pickup for any big stuff anyways.

Being this vehicle would be a commuter and i live approx 10 miles from work, a plug in hybrid would make the most sense for me. Every other day i could plug it in to a 110V outlet at night, and never really use the gasoline engine much. However on long trips the gas engine would get used. AWD is almost a requirement with the snow and ice storms we get every winter in west Texas.

Full electric vehicles your range is limited, and trips take way longer because of charge times. A neat spot for the battery charge plug on a possible plug in hybrid maverick would be to put it behind the LH plastic front fender vent. Turn it into a little door with the receptacle behind it.

i don’t believe the Maverick HEV model is a plug in hybrid. I am about 99% sure it’s just a battery under the bench seat in the back. It’s just a regen braking hybrid I believe, Which is even better For you if you go that route. But you will be waiting a LONGGGGGG time for it to get delivered. Major delays for the hybrids I’m told

Oh, I know it doesnt come as a plug in hybrid, however regenerative braking on a traditional hybrid is only really efficient with the mileage numbers in town with a lot of stop and go to recharge the battery. I do mostly highway driving. That's where a plug in hybrid would shine for me.

ohhhh I see what you are saying. My apologies I misunderstood the point you were making.
I was a commuter before and I know what you mean for sure. I’m now a 10 kilometre commute to work both ways and I work remotely 70% of the time anyway so the 2.0l turbo is awesome for me :)

I go 10 miles 1 way to work. The escape hybrid I think goes 40 miles on battery only before the gas engine kicks in. In my case if they made the maverick a similar plug in hybrid with similar mileage figures, I could plug it into a 110V outlet overnight every 2 days, and never use any gasoline, saving that fuel cost for my muscle cars lol. Pic below is my 07 GT. Bought this one special order new. It's got only 13,000 miles on it to date.

If they dont do the plug in hybrid, I will likely go 2.0T with AWD because of our awful winters in west Texas. For starters, people dont know how to drive in this stuff, and they dont clear the roads very well. I'm from the northeast I know how to drive in it. Drove a RWD chevy pickup with stick shift and locking rear diff in it for years. AWD would be a nice for surefootedness though.

The fact that Katskin makes leather covers solidifies the fact that I will probably go with the XLT and just recover the seats myself. Unless the base becomes available with cruise control. My only reason to step up to the lariat was the easy to clean seat covers, but they arent even yummy smelling real leather. I have done seat upholstery plenty of times before, so I may have to give Katskin a call and see what a set of covers runs without the added installation fee. Heck I'm getting ready to recover a set of 69 barracuda seats within the next few weeks., and that old upholstery is much more complicated to do.
