Hello everyone,
I've been trying to find good wireless charging solutions and I have yet to find any that actually look clean. I decided that I wanted to design my own model with no wiring visible, and I am happy to report that I was able to make that happen!
First off, under the orange/black/blue mat where your phone sits, there is a compartment that can just be popped up with a flat edge such as a key. This makes it easy to wire so you don't need to drill into any trim. For the project, I started off by removing the trim that houses the USB ports and 12v by simply just pulling it towards me; it's only held in by four clips. From there, I grabbed some spare 16 AWG wire and tapped into the 12v socket to extend power to that cubby that I just talked about. The wires behind the 12v are a bit odd as there is a striped green cable and striped black cable. Green is hot for reference.
From there, I wired up one of these 12v adapters that accepts both USB A and USB C. I then drilled a small hole in the mat and was able to run my MagSafe charging cable through the popped off cover and connect it to the adapter with zero issues. The cover even closes up like it did before as there is a big enough gap. So far, I am having no issues at all with charging and I actually designed two models, one for people who want to hardwire like I did (edge wire slot), and one for people who just want to use the USB C port that they already have (top wire slot). The top wire slot does show a little bit of wire, but it's the next best thing to having no cables visible if you want to use the factory USB C port. I have these for sell on my Etsy if interested. I'm happy to answer any questions that you may have!
Update 5/4/26: I now design custom holders for ALL wireless chargers. If interested, check it out here!
Edit: There has been quite a bit of demand so I am now selling complete units that support both iPhones and Androids. See here if interested:
