Ford’s 1000hp Hybrid…

The 2026 F1 power units remain hybrid systems, combining a 1.6-liter V6 turbocharged internal combustion engine (ICE) with electric components. Specifically, they include a significantly enhanced **MGU-K (Motor Generator Unit - Kinetic)**, which is an electric motor/generator connected to the crankshaft. This MGU-K provides up to **350 kW (approximately 475 hp)** of electric power, nearly tripling the current 120 kW output.

The Redbull/Ford turbo V6 Hybrid is looking impressive in the F1 preseason. Be nice to have the electronic “power boost” mode when pulling onto a freeway or passing someone on a 2-lane road

The F-150 powerboost is the only truly satisfying turbo I've driven for this reason (and I've driven the Ecoboost maverick).

The electric kicks in to cheat while the turbos spin up!

[and on that model, it actually has to throttle the electric while doing this, as the ice+electric kicks out more torque than the transmission is rated for! {inquiring minds wonder why a heavier version of the transmission, as used in superduties, isn't an option, but . . . }]
