I may not agree with how things are done all the time, but there is no way to give you an exact number of where you are in the queue. Commodity issues arise every day due to the availability of parts, a delay in part shipment, or maybe a quality delay. My Bronco ended up being built earlier than scheduled because of a part issue with the Rangers. They didn't make any Rangers for 2 weeks, so they built 100% Broncos instead. Ford isn't the only company doing this crazy stuff with manufacturing. I hear the same complaints coming from multiple different auto manufacturers and in other phases of manufacturing. Unfortunately, it's a sign of the times

could be a lot of orderers who got their produced decided to walk away from them either due to the long wait times or any other factors, so those are on the lots. Ford has additional orders to build from customers so it's not going to abandon them - I guess they could do a match between open orders and the BS's on the lots and see if there's a match and if the vehicle is local to the buyer and then tell they buyer hey we've got the exact same one right there if you want....problem could be that those defaulted orders are now the dealerships property and they'll possibly/likely want over MSRP. So it's complicated.
As far as dealers doing dealer trades it has been done for years. I actually drove a few for money. I went over 500 miles on one delivery. I drove the new vehicle to another dealer. Then drove back another back to home dealer. I did this for extra money sometimes. Granted this was a while ago,. Maybe 18 years ago. So I see no reason they couldn't dealer trade. As i already posted local dealer has 65 BS of them. While zero available Mavericks.

I think Ford needs to change their ordering system to first come, first serve and the customer is told where they are in the queue. Obviously, there will still be constraint issues but they could update that and keep the customer informed, like June 5th we get another 500 tow hitches.

I talked to my dealer for months before order banks opened. Made an appointment to be there first thing in the morning on order date, hoping it would help me be earlier in the queue. Not sure if any of it made a difference. I do have two constraints, hybrid (XLT) and tow hitch. No order date yet and no clue how long to wait or where I am in the queue. Not a very good ordering system keeping customers in the dark hoping they will get a build date every week when they send their emails.

I am sure everybody finds their system frustrating, maybe it worked fine before covid and constraints and you got a build date within a week or two of ordering. Hopefully, they will change their system to keep customers better informed.
Stellantis and GM have similar order issues. Keep in mind they don't build cars for you they build them for dealers to sell. Any info they provide is a courtesy since your relationship is with the dealer. And there is no system that they know exactly how many cars will be ordered, how many parts will actually be built by suppliers in the Just In Time system that most manufacturers use, how many people will walk away from their order without telling anyone, how many selfish people will order multiple ones to try to get one then let the rest of the orders lanquish. If you want a faster order and delivery system then don't order the most popular vehicle there is right now. Go to an overseas manufacturer and just buy whatever they have sitting on the lot since you can't custom order them. Although I did custom order my Rolls and it took 48 weeks to get it.

ONE argument. its NOT selfish to make at least 3 orders for a maverick BECAUSE of allocations. Its 100 percent on Ford for that., If they told each dealer you can order 10 . then the dealer, sorry we reached our limit. BUT NO. So not selfish to order many. I ordered one for 2023. NOT again. I won't be a fool again. If you only order one I say your a fool.

I agree they need better communication whether through the dealer or direct. The dealers are as clueless as we are when asked. The allocation system is weird but as theSearch stated if we knew what dealers were allocated and the dealers told us how many were ordered through them, then one can make an informed decision to order it or not.

Personally, I am not in dire need for a vehicle but of course would prefer it sooner than later. My car is still working fine but has high mileage ~260K+. So, I figured I would order the Maverick knowing it might take a while. If my vehicle suddenly dies then I will have to go look at what dealers have on the lot that fits my needs.

I just find it unusual that I contacted my dealer months before ordering. Told them I want to put the order in as early as possible. Was there when they opened on order day and they said mine would be first in line at that dealership since I contacted them first. I haven't inquired if they have gotten any others in. I do know from this forum that one person got theirs from the same dealer but theirs was an EB and I ordered a Hybrid. I've seen a lot of hybrids with tow hitches get scheduled here on these forums. Initially, it was mostly the rollovers but a lot of others after that.

I don't know if mine will get built this year or next. Doesn't matter to me. I was hoping I'd be one of the earlier builds after the rollovers were complete. Only, because I made such an effort to get the order in as early as possible. Maybe I chose the wrong dealer and should have went somewhere else. That's my point, we have no idea where we stand and Ford should make a better effort to get information to its customers.
