If you’re driving a 2022–2024 Ford Maverick Lariat and wish it came with factory-built-in navigation, there’s a simple OEM solution that adds Sync® 3 navigation without changing your screen or interior layout. This upgrade replaces the factory Sync 3 non-navigation APIM module with a genuine Ford Sync 3 navigation module that’s pre-programmed to your Maverick’s VIN. The result is embedded GPS navigation that works just like it would from the factory. No aftermarket interfaces or no sketchy add-ons.

What This Upgrade Does
  • Adds factory Sync 3 GPS navigation directly to your existing 8-inch screen
  • Provides built-in maps for the USA & Canada
  • Supports English, French, and Spanish
  • Retains full Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ functionality
  • No subscription required to use navigation

Because this is a plug-and-play OEM upgrade, there’s no additional hardware, coding, or dealer visit needed. Just swap the module and you’re good to go.

Installation Overview

Installation involves accessing the APIM module located behind the center stack. The factory screen stays in place—only the module is replaced.

If you’ve been relying on phone-based navigation and want something that’s always ready the moment you start the truck, this is one of the cleanest OEM upgrades you can do to a Maverick.

This is a great idea, and it is plug-and-play, but it indicates on their website that, at this time, it is only for the 2022 Maverick Lariat models.

I love the concept especially if one travels or lives in areas with spotty phone service. While I appreciate the ease of install and not fooling around with the OEM screen, the $600 price tag is a bit much for my needs. Nonetheless, hats off to Infotainment for providing this for the Maverick.

This looks more interesting in demonstrating that the OEM can be upgraded. While apologizing for getting off topic, I thought I would mention that I wished there were more ways to do it and at a reasonable price.

I have a dongle that I plug into the USB port that pairs my iPhone to the Sync 3. This is great for using whatever map app is on the phone. BUT, it also means that you lose control of the Sync 3. With that said, I find it annoying that I have to use my phone's Sirius XM instead of the Sync3's version. The latter is much more easier to use via Sync3 than the phone.

I also find it annoying that depending on the phone, you don't have much control over which map app you want to use. In some cases, the infotainment center uses both at the same time.

It would be nice if the after market vendors would come up with a way to allow for deciding which device one wants the infotainment center to use as primary.

With the 15% off offer and sell back option (-$150) final price is about $360. Not too bad
I wonder if there's a way to use a stand alone GPS (Garmin-type) and connect it to the info screen. You could probably pick up one for $50 or so. Just thinking out loud here.

I think the issue is with the SYNC software. Either you use your phone or the SYNC. Once you plug your phone into the USB port, it thinks you want to use the phone. In your scenario, the GPS and nothing else will be the only thing showing on the infotainment screen.

Does the new module resolve the laggy bluetooth issue that the current Sync 2 module has? Also is the touchscreen responsiveness and general speed of the new module improved over the old Sync 2 module? The crappy in-car Sync 2 is my biggest complaint with my Maverick.
