Is the Tremor right for me.

Hello all, I am shopping the Maverick and based on the discussion here in my introduction post, I am trying to narrow down what trim of Maverick I want to settle on. Originally I was set on a Tremor but from what I heard from some members, I may want to consider other trims. I was told the Tremor would be more expensive, less fuel efficient, have more body roll, not be able to tow a decent amount and not really offer any advantage off the road than say a Maverick FX4.

So while I like to do some moderate off roading with a Tremor, I don't expect it to go places a body on frame vehicle with a real 4 Low mode. I actually have a place in my region that gives 101 classes on off roading since I have little experience with it and was thinking of trying it out (https://offroad-consulting.com/) but I would like to hear from people who own and kept the Tremor, based on the post I have seen here and the YouTube reviews, people are happy with the Tremor but I wanted to get as clear of a picture of what I can expect before making any decisions.

I have a 2024 Tremor Lariat it was the only Maverick I wanted,
I don't tow so the tow rating didn't matter, and I get gas mileage in the 20's which is fine as far as I'm concerned.
It drives great especially in the snow; it does fine on the highway as well.
Of course, my other vehicle is a Jeep Wrangler, so smooth ride is relative.
Lastly having a wrangler i got the Tremor as to me of all the models it's the coolest looking.
If it's a vote get the Tremor.

I have had a Tremor XLT since Dec 22 and wouldn't trade it for any other model. I have 8k miles on it-mostly local rural 2 lane roads-and my mileage since new is 28.6. I probably drive a little faster than I should but I don't do off roading and only tow an ATV ocassionally but have a 1/2 mile gravel driveway. My grandson has an XLT FX4 and mine rides better and our gas mileage is about the same. If you are able to afford the extra initial cost you won't regret getting one. I might suggest you look around for a 2024 as it was a trim addition until 2025 when it became its own model and the price went up and they added a lot of stuff most people don't really need.

I've had two Mavericks. The first one I bought Easter of 2023 back when you couldn't find one on a lot for less than $5K over MSRP in my area - found a base Lariat non-FX4 AWD about 3 hours a way that they sold me for sticker after guy who ordered didn't take it. TBH it was a very nice truck and I just wanted one so bad I was happy to find it and put down a deposit over the phone. I ended up not loving the ActiveX seats (color and material type) and really wanted an XLT Tremor (b/c they look cool, upgraded AWD system, like the darker interior and Tremor was only $1,100 more than blackout package and had rims and tires that I liked better, and cloth seats).

I love my XLT Tremor. I don't have anything to tow and I can borrow several F-series trucks from my brothers or dad, so not an issue for me. It rides great and is a blast to drive - honestly my favorite vehicle that I have had in my 30 years and probably 20+ family cars (currently have 5). The only detractor other than towing capacity if you need it is the gas mileage. I am right at 20 mpg according to the truck (maybe 18 mpg if you do the math but I don't manually check it - just add gas when needed). I am averaging 500-ish miles a month, so fuel economy isn't really a big deal, but if you drive a lot your mileage may vary (pun intended).

All of that being said, if they had an option for a hybrid AWD with 4K tow at the time I ordered the Tremor, I probably would have gone that direction instead on an XL (to keep the darker interior accents) and just added some wheels and tires. If you wait patiently there are usually some good ones for sale on the forum.

Good luck - really you can't go wrong I don't think, the Maverick is a great vehicle.

The primary question is, which is more important to you, the locking rear differential or the 4k towing package? Because you can’t have both.

For me, I took the FX4 with 4k towing and sacrificed not having the locking rear diff.

I put oversized off-road all terrain tires on it and 2” of lift, which puts it in the same ballpark of off road ability as a stock tremor.

After one year of ownership, I’ve only needed a rescue tow once. And having the locking differential wouldn’t have saved me, as I crested a steep dune, high centered at the top and my rear tires were off of the ground.

Series hybrid loses about 15% efficiency vs. parallel operation in most operating conditions, it's a big fuel economy hit to do it "train style." Usually hybrids do use this mode in certain circumstances, though, like when the battery is full, or at certain loads and road speeds. The Ecoboosts are generally good engines, just a good deal more complex than a basic engine.

I wasn’t aware of that, I figured a smaller generator would actually provide better fuel economy as the engine could run at a more constant speed but I guess that answers my question why we never really saw such a setup in cars.

Just following your responses to the suggestions being made kinda seems like you are leaning pretty heavily in the direction of the Tremor. I get the "analysis paralysis" as I'm prone to that myself but based on what it seems like you're saying, it really sounds like you'll be happy with the Tremor.

And, hey, it will do truck stuff too - here's some proof:

Without a doubt I am in an “analysis paralysis” mindset, I may even decide in the end to keep the Fusion a few more years and come back to this question in say another 3 years. However, I already saw Ford jack the price up on the Maverick considerably since its release and it's quite possible they‘ll do it again plus who knows when Ford will do Employee Pricing like this again.

I'm a Tremor owner. Test drove each of the models and trims, choose the Tremor for it's ride quality. Secondly the off-road ability/foul weather capabilities. I'm getting 23 -24 mpg using sport mode which I enabled with Forscan. Didn't see the need for 4K towing, the hybrid intrigued me initially, however I quickly found it too harsh of a ride during the test drive, and coming out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee the ride quality was top of mind.

The ride quality is important to me too, I have a long commute to work but I have heard someone say the Tremor had too much body lean compared to other trims of the Maverick, do you feel as an owner it excessive? If I got 24 MPG with a Tremor I would be at the same fuel economy as my Fusion.

From what I read it seems the Maverick has the sports mode in the Tremor for 2025, which was smart of Ford to add.

That being said on your towing/off roading plans, particularly Deep Ruts, I would go get the Tremor and don't look back, without question !!! I would go order it to your specs/liking NOW and take advantage of the Ford Employee Pricing Incentive. Go have FUN and Live Life to the Fullest! Post pics of the truck and your adventures when you can.

Right now I found a couple near by for $37,000-$38,000, I have already communicated with the dealers and let them know I would be interested in test driving one. Thank you for the support, more to come soon.

My only gripe is I really wanted one in green but I get a feeling if I order one the price might not be as good, even with Ford Employee Pricing, so I may just accept whatever color I can get.

I liked the Tremor trim.
The wheels and the Interior was suweeet.

$36,000 for my 2024 AWD Lariat Ecoboost
on the last day of 2024 was in my Budget. Not the $42,000 Lariat Tremor.

The employee pricing gets the pricing down a fair bit below that, I am keeping my fingers crossed that I may get one out the door for less than that. However, I noticed how Ford crept the price up and I am not a big fan of that personally.

So I will be test driving the hybrid AWD version but my driving mostly being highway, being a fast driver and enjoying peppy/fun vehicles I feel I may regret the hybrid. Especially if my driving habits give me only say 30 MPG average on my mostly highway commute.

As I mentioned before, I really wish Ford had the cloth Tremor seats as an option for 2025, I want the luxury electronics but being the Maverick doesn’t have ventilated seats, I think the cloth would be more comfy for the hot months.

I really cant see a time where towing at all, especially more than the stock 2000 pounds will be important for me, as I don’t have the room to store something that needs to be towed.

I am also weighing the lift/bigger tires down the road, I just don’t know if I want to take a hit to my fuel economy with that mod. My research here suggests you can get bigger tires on the Tremor with its current ride height/rims without those mods, I may do that as it will give me some additional height and capability.

It looks like you had some fun on those dunes, good thing you have people to off road with. My off roading adventures will be a bit more muddy than that.

Agreed about the seats. A good compromise might be a XLT FX4, you can look on here and see reports, but you can probably get high 20's or more. My Tremor does better on highway of course, 24 mpg if I keep it around 73, but I usually don't. There are some 24 Tremors with cloth seats still out there.

I've always used 91 octane ethanol free. I usually get around 30 +- when I fill up as the 28.6 includes everything since day one. It does a little worse in cold weather but the worst fill up was around 25 when I had sat at idle for about an hour waiting for the cops to show up at an accident. There are no mods-totally stock. As long as I keep it below 75 speed doesn't seem to have much of an effect on the milage. I can't imagine mine ever getting only 20 MPG, My Grandson has an FX4 and he gets a couple miles better than I do but almost of his miles are interstate.

I was thinking about an XLT but can you get all other options found on the Lariet? For example, I don't want to loose the power locking tailgate, the power sliding rear window and the upgraded sound system. I know you can still get the 360 features it seems.

I was also looking around for 24 Tremor's but man do I hate that old center display with that useless cubby, it's a shame too as I like that the auto climate controls have separate hard buttons for their operation before the 25's.
