Hi and welcome!

So I have a 2024 Lariat Tremor that I bought about 2.5 weeks ago. I obviously don't know your situation but I'll share that my reason for ending up with a Tremor was the higher ride height. It's not a huge difference but with the 1 inch factory lift and slightly larger factory tire, it ends up being noticeable for me at 6'3" tall. I was able to get in and out of a non Tremor followed immediately by the Tremor and could easily feel the difference in height. That may mean nothing to an average height individual but it swayed me in my final decision.

With that said, I have been wondering if giving up the option for 4K towing was an acceptable trade off. Although I don't currently own a travel trailer I was considering one but without 4K towing, the options are pretty limited. So that might or might not end up being my reason for wishing I had made a different decision. Since I don't like looking backward, I will likely just move on from the idea of a travel trailer and just enjoy the truck.

To all the other points you made, those are valid considerations but I will add that if you intend to get into off roading the locking differential on the Tremor will make a difference.

Good luck with your decision. I'll close by sharing something a friend of mine said often: Don't worry about making the right decision. Make the decision, then make the decision right.
The additional ride height would be most welcomed by me and even the increase in sitting position on the standard Maverick will be much more than what I am driving now. Many people here really seem to like the 4K tow package for obvious reasons but I am trying to think out ahead where I would really need such a feature and I don't see it, in fact I am getting the vibe the AWD Hybrid with the 4K package is the preferred way to equip a Maverick.

As for the decision, its a hard one for me, I really overthink things and especially when money is on the line. But the experience shared here really helps narrow down my decision. Thanks!

Last week at a stop light I was next to a Tremor. I talked to the guy until the light turned green and he said he wanted to trade his Tremor in for an AWD Hybrid. The AWD hybrid with good tires will do a decent job of what most people use the truck for.
Did he actually drive the AWD Hybrid and feel that way afterwards or does he just saw the potential fuel economy savings?

I want a plug in hybrid 350hp Tremor with a 7500 or 10k tow package.
Personally, if Ford did the hybrid on the 2.0L Ecoboost it would make it so much easier for me to just chose the hybrid. I'd be very happy having the pep of the 2.0 Eco with the fuel savings of the hybrid, I suspect Ford didn't do that since it wouldn't work out that way in the real world.

I love my Tremor, but I don't do any towing with it and got it explicitly to enable me to handle pretty gnarly roads/trails. Sounds like you may be better off with an FX4 with the 4k tow if you're looking to be able to tow and still be capable on well maintained gravel/dirt roads.
Well that's the thing, I don't see myself towing anything in the near future. If I get to a point where I need to tow more than 2000 pounds it will be probably far enough in the future that I will be looking at another vehicle. After all, I am driving upwards of 45,000 miles a year, so I will probably be looking to replace whatever I am driving by its 7th year.

I'd get a Tremor, in fact I did get a 23 XLT. It does everything I want a truck to do and gets around 24 MPG around town and more on the highway.

Good looking truck man, I was hoping to get one in green but my local dealership has a Tremor in black like yours. My only regret with the 2025 is that I wish you could chose between the cloth and plether seats, I would go cloth if given the option since the Maverick doesn't have ventilated seats.

Naw, you don't need all the extra complexity of the ecoboost engine, the RAV4 got the same engine HP as the Maverick 2.5, just a little bigger battery and boom you got a truck that's got 300-350hp. NO one uses 300-350hp continuous, even towing, in a truck this size.

That's why the 650HP Ramcharger will be able tow 14k all day long with only the simple 3.6L naturally aspirated port injected Pentastar V6 in it, you only need that much power for hill climbs and such, and there's no hill long enough to run out if you got a relatively small, but reasonable size, battery! I think it's a genius power train design - the Military eJLTV and HEMTT A3 and stuff uses the same basic design; 20% better fuel economy, simpler transmission and engines. Civilian stuff just needs to catch up on how to make simple, powerful vehicle, it's been decades...

For now, I still think the Tremor is gonna be what fits your criteria best, though.

Hi Chris, I was one of those responding in your first post. What might be helpful for all us responding is you defining what you would include in "moderate offroading". Is it like mud, deep ruts etc or sorta off road trails like in national or state parks, sand dunes, overlanding, etc. Do you feel you may one day want to get into overlanding and have the truck decked out for that and camping, etc?

I see the desire for the Tremor for its locking differential and it now being decked out with the Lariat features, (seats, B&O, etc) which a XLT FX4 wouldn't have. So i guess the real question is in what environment that you will plan to go to really require the locking differential and or 1" lift?

I like the Tremor, I have a MY22 Lariat AWD 4K Tow Pkg. I've had it in hunting club trails, with moderate ruts, mud etc and I've had no real issues off road.

I understand you don't currently plan to tow, but ask yourself in the time frame that you will keep the truck could your life change to where you might tow or loading it down with overlanding/camping setup? If the answer to that is yes, you may want to consider a trim level with the 4K Tow, it can't be added later - at least not economically. If the answer to that is no, then heck ya, get the Tremor with 2K Tow, which seems to be what you really want considering your current life style.
For off roading, I am looking more at mud, deep ruts, state/national parks and whatever off road group events that will allow something like a Maverick to participate. I don't plan to do anything that involves rock crawling, as even if I had a vehicle equipped to handle it I wouldn't be comfortable doing it as I have seen the damage one can do to your vehicle. Someday I would like to do Overlanding but that's very far in the future, since I am on the East Coast and most of that happens West of the Mississippi, I really don't have the time nor the money to get into that anytime soon.

I actually found an off road training group in my region that will teach you the basics of off roading since I have limited experience with it, just joy riding in the back woods/along rivers in a friends Wrangler about a decade ago.

As for the towing, I really don't see it in my future, at least in the next 6-7 years I plan to keep the Maverick. That's why I feel I may enjoy the Tremor more but as I mentioned before, I have to consider all options and many here have given me a lot to think about, both in my introduction thread and here.

I also thank you for being patient with my indecision on this. 😅

I got to be honest man, I just hit 195,000 miles on my Fusion with the same Ecoboost engine as the Maverick and I have been quite happy with it. If it wasn't for the Ford Employee Pricing I probably be riding out my Fusion to 300,000 miles. As for the hybrid, I kinda wish they would go straight to using the engine as a generator only which charges the battery and provides power directly to the motors under heavy use, like a diesel-electric train. I don't understand why more automakers aren't going down this path, I know 15 years ago GM was planning to do this with their Chevy Volt but they changed their mind and decided to have the engine be directly tied into the power train...

Series hybrid loses about 15% efficiency vs. parallel operation in most operating conditions, it's a big fuel economy hit to do it "train style." Usually hybrids do use this mode in certain circumstances, though, like when the battery is full, or at certain loads and road speeds. The Ecoboosts are generally good engines, just a good deal more complex than a basic engine.

Chris,

Just following your responses to the suggestions being made kinda seems like you are leaning pretty heavily in the direction of the Tremor. I get the "analysis paralysis" as I'm prone to that myself but based on what it seems like you're saying, it really sounds like you'll be happy with the Tremor.

And, hey, it will do truck stuff too - here's some proof:

Ford Maverick Is the Tremor right for me. image0

I'm a Tremor owner. Test drove each of the models and trims, choose the Tremor for it's ride quality. Secondly the off-road ability/foul weather capabilities. I'm getting 23 -24 mpg using sport mode which I enabled with Forscan. Didn't see the need for 4K towing, the hybrid intrigued me initially, however I quickly found it too harsh of a ride during the test drive, and coming out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee the ride quality was top of mind.

That being said on your towing/off roading plans, particularly Deep Ruts, I would go get the Tremor and don't look back, without question !!! I would go order it to your specs/liking NOW and take advantage of the Ford Employee Pricing Incentive. Go have FUN and Live Life to the Fullest! Post pics of the truck and your adventures when you can.

I liked the Tremor trim.
The wheels and the Interior was suweeet.

$36,000 for my 2024 AWD Lariat Ecoboost
on the last day of 2024 was in my Budget. Not the $42,000 Lariat Tremor.
