I thought you're not supposed to lay a refrigerator on it's side, but sure easier that way.

Freezer said upright is best, also said if you lay it down for a short trip(this was 15 min) let it set upright for 30 min or 1 hour cant remember before starting and by the time we plugged it in it was over a hour.

Anymore I guess if its not laid down for a longer period of time its not bad as far as the wait. I believe the old standard for years was 24 hours.
You can lay them down, just let it stand upright 12 hours or so prior to plugging in.
Actually in this ones instructions it said before plugging in let unit stand upright for at least 30 minutes before plugging in. This will reduce the possibility of any malfunctions from handling during transportation.. I mean what I read online also basically said if you lay it down depends how long if its a short time 30 min or less its a hour or 2 if its longer up to 4 hours if its like 1/2 a day 24 hours etc... also supposedly depends on if its a newer or older one as newer ones supposedly have a different design than the older ones.

I've done a little towing these last couple of weeks with mine.

First towing trip, I took a load of scrap wood to the local landfill, approximately 1750 pounds including trailer and cargo. Absolutely no problem hauling that. Wasn't a very long trip, maybe 20 miles each way, so no mileage information on that tow.

Last weekend, I loaded up a 5X8 UHaul, floor to ceiling, front to back, with boxes and a small gun safe, and towed it some 600 miles. Estimated trailer weight, my best guess, around 2500 pounds. Also had about 300-400 pounds of stuff in the bed and back seat of my Maverick. Mileage took a little hit as expected, got around 17-18 mpg driving mostly 65 mph or so. You could definitely tell that the load was back there, but it wasn't a huge burden.

The Maverick towed both trips very nicely, no issues other than the other idiots on the road. I should do more driving at night, when most people are at home. Passing through cities like Cincinnati were the most difficult part of the trip. Way too many cars, too much stop and go. And that was on a Sunday.

Personally, after transit, i wouldn't even plug a freezer of fridge in until at least the next day. Let all that refrigerant settle back to where it's supposed to be before starting. The compressor will thank you.
