The donge hanging off the USB port on the dash looks very sloppy. Is there a better way?

So I got a 90-degree USB cable from Amazon, and Velcro'd it down below on the flat underside of the console. all you see is the 90 usb and then it's fastened up underneath the cubby hole so you really can't see anything unless you're really looking hard. And I added a wireless charging pad, so the phone and dongle are both right there next to each other. Clean, and the Velcro allows me to take it out easily too if I need to.

Amazon.com: Jadebones 90 Degree USB 3.0 Extension Cable (4 Pack), Vertical Up and Down Angle, Horizontal Left and Right Angle USB Male to Female Extender Cord (Black, 30CM) : Electronics

I'm using this one in my '24 Hybrid Lariat (which has USB Type-C and Type-A slots). Looks very similar to the one you reference (probably made by same manufacturer)

CNDPSTE CP3 Wireless Carplay (this uses USB Type-C, there's a CP1 model with Type-A connector)

On the good side...
  • Install/setup was easy
  • I perceive hardly any 'lag' when performing functions on screen or phone (maybe there is, but an old man like me doesn't notice it!)
  • Sound quality for music seems equal to wired (and way better than straight bluetooth connection from phone to SYNC3)
  • Design of it keeps it out of the way (at least in the upper Type-C USB slot)
On the less-than-desirable side...
  • It can take anywhere from 3 to 60 seconds to fully connect after SYNC 3 initialized. It's usually on the lower side of that range (~10 seconds, say)

Thanks for taking the time to post this. Very helpful. I think I will get rid of what I have and go with this one.

I'm using this one which seems similar to a lot of these.

The short USB cable is perfect for placing it under the dash there with a little double stick tape. Works great, and it's out of sight and out of the way.

It also leaves the USB-C port open to charge my phone or anyone else. I leave a USB-C charging cable in the armrest for these occasional long-trip needs. The Maverick's USB-C is a pretty high wattage/fast charge port!

Here's the wireless adapter I use with my 2024 XLT based on a recommendation of another forum member. Works flawlessly with my Car Play (Navigation, music, messaging, phone, etc.). The dongle can swivel 360 degrees and does not hang down. No issues with Ebay seller which is much cheaper than Amazon (when it's in stock). Good luck.

I bought this off aliexpress, took like 2 weeks to arrive. it worked flawless in my gr86 Toyota, and I gave it to my gf shes using it in her nissan rogue 23. now here's where little tricky, if you are android, get the 5.0, it works with both apple/android.

if you are iPhone only, GET 4.0 it is faster than the 5.0 for iPhones as it doesn't have 2 interfaces to figure out in the background. loved it.

That looks like a solid option! I'll probably transition to something like that when this one craps out. The connections are just gonna keep getting better and better as time goes on. Mine is definitely not perfect, but better than having cables - when it starts being problematic this looks like a great v2 :)

^^^ This one is GREAT! Works perfect with my 2022 XLT and iPhone 16 Pro...

Ships from China, but it only took about 10 days to arrive even though the Ebay delivery estimate said several weeks...
