I'm sure there will be lots of reports from the auto journalist, but are there any local members who plan to go?

2022 Ford Maverick: Reviving yet another historic nameplate, Ford dusts off Maverick for its all-new compact pickup truck. The Maverick is anything but old school, as it blends a unibody frame and front- or all-wheel drive chassis with a hybrid powertrain to shake up the pickup-truck ranks. Offered only as a crew cab with a 4.5-foot bed, Maverick is 10 inches shorter than Fordās midsize Ranger pickup, which is 23 inches shorter than its full-size F-150. Maverick competitors include the new Hyundai Santa Cruz and Honda Ridgeline.
When Maverick goes on sale in the fall it will be offered in XL, XLT and Lariat trim. Front-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive being optional. Base powertrain is a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine paired with electric motors and a continuously variable automatic transmission to produce a combined output of 162 horsepower. Optional is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that makes 250 horsepower and mates to an 8-speed automatic. Maximum payload on all models is 1.500 pounds. Max. towing on hybrids is 2,000 pounds, 4,000 on turbo models.
Maverick will come standard with Fordās Co-Pilot360 technologies, which includes auto high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection and rear-view camera. Optional will be adaptive cruise control, lane centering, reverse sensing, blind-spot alert, lane-departure warning and hill-descent control. Also offered is FLEXBED. Providing organization and cargo solutions, FLEXBED incorporates slots to allow the bed to be divided, has 12 available anchor points, two 12-volt 20-amp prewired sources and two available 110-volt outlets. Pricing starts at $19,995.
