Just curious...with all this dipstick checking has anyone really had to add oil ?
Does it even get down to the add mark between oil changes ?
Sure ....I've had old beaters with too many miles that required constant checking and keeping that extra quart of oil handy under the hood .
Modern cars don't use oil ....

Mostly to check at oil change time.

This time I did it myself and added 5.5 quarts. Wanted to see how "perfect" or not I was. But best I could see was "I'm in the ballpark."
