In Texas, we leave the wipers up in the summer so they won't melt to the windshield.

I obviously don't have the problem here on Maui, but I never did get why people bothered to do this. Sure I think the wiper placement design is and issue, it makes it more complex when I want to clean the windshield. I just always thought it was silly to see people doing that in Ohio. Especially now with remote start everywhere. You car should be warmed up enough that the windshield is melted or at the tipping point where it won't take much more to clear off right. I never even had a vehicle with remote start in Ohio. Most were carbureted even. If I had time I would go out the choke on and warm it up a bit but usually I would just go start it clear off the glass I needed with the big ole long handle scraper that stayed in my vehicles year round and head to work as fast as the feathering of the throttle would allow to keep em running.

With remote start and such these days none of that is even necessary. The wipers will be free shortly after it reaches operating temperature? I think it just started as a trend and people still do it even when it's become irrelevant.

Apparently they will automatically retract and scrape along the upper edge of the hood .

Unrelated, who makes good touch-up paint?
I bought my touch up paint from my local Ford Dealer. You can order it (if not in stock) using your year, make, model. It comes in a pen type container with paint at one end and a clear coat on the other end.
