Coming from an SUV and a long line of key in the ignition vehicles including some with clutches and/or chokes, starting my Lariat is weird or something. I have had it 2 weeks today and I always feel like I am forgetting something before I release the brake to start driving… maybe it’s just the fact that most of the time is starts on electric so I don’t have the cold engine at high idle?

I had a similar problem with my last car which was the first one I had without a key. I used to leave it running and walk away because if the keys were in my hand, they weren't in the ignition and the car was off!

You get used to it.

Same here; but I am an old fart.

For me, I always have to double check I am in "drive" and the brake is "off". :giggle:

Me as well. After 10 weeks I'm still just getting used to a dial tranny shifter and an electric brake. Plus when looking under the hood I still catch myself looking for the power steering fluid reservoir😅

The thing I really miss is my touch handle door unlock I had on my Prius. The key always stayed in my pocket. Didn't have to click my key to unlock the door, insert key and turn it. I just walked up to the Prius, touched the handle, got it and pushed the "start" button.

I still tend to reach for the 'fan speed' knob when I think it's the shift knob...they're close in size and I'm used to my Nissan which had the shifter up higher on the dash, and my Promaster work truck is similar to the Nissan.

All I know is I think park is drive and drive is park and reverse is park and etc etc.

Luckily I have a key and still know my own name.

I had the same feeling at first but you get used to it after a while. Having said that I’m old school too and don’t think I’ll ever like the dial shifter 🤷‍♀️
