Wheel Spec Help

Good morning MTC -

Wheel sizing/swapping/calculating is not my specialty. Could someone confirm if the specs below will work for me? Currently on stock 225/60R18 but trying to secure my winter wheels and tires before snow falls here in New England. I'm eyeing a set of Volvo C30s 7x17, 5x108. I am leaning on the 17", rather than 18". The spec differences I'm not confident on are:

(a) Offset range: 50.5-54.5mm, Mav is 35.5-39.5mm
(b) Thread sizing: M12x1.5, Mav is M14x1.5

Bolt pattern and center bore are good. The Volvo wheel will sit in quite a bit more on the Mav and will most likely hit suspension components on the inside lip of the wheel.

I did a light search prior to my post and no one really addresses exactly what needs to be done (if anything) on differing offsets so I’m trying to wrap my head around what that means for me.

If it’s most likely going to hit suspension components, how are so many folks using those specs? Are there other steps I need to take to avoid that from happening?

One piece of info missing is tire size.

The overall diameter/width/offset of your setup may/may not require spacers.

Noted on potential need for spacers. I assume tire shops will have on hand?

I’m just looking to get the recommended tire size for that size wheel with studs. I have little interest in pushing the boundaries of wheel/tire size for aesthetics. I live off a 1/2 mile unpaved driveway that becomes an ice luge in the winter so studs and clearance are more important to me than looking just looking cool.
