Two months ago I bought a ‘23 Maverick Lariat AWD with 48k miles.
While at my local Ford dealer for the trailer module reprogramming recall, the technician said he heard a grinding noise from the front. Initially they said it was the front wheel bearings, adding it was covered by Ford’s 5 yr/60,000 powertrain warranty. The technician also found the front differential oil was low.
A short time later Ford said wheel bearings weren’t covered by the power train warranty (contrary what I had read online at Ford.com). Apparently they (local dealer) provide the part number(s) to Ford, then they advise the dealership whether or not it’s covered by a warranty.
I had bought the truck from a local Chevy dealer, and it came with an extended warranty. So upon Ford’s advice I took the truck there, they confirmed it needed new front wheel bearings and covered the repair cost under their second-party extended warranty.
I really like the truck (traded in a 2016 F-150 for it), just wanted to inform this group what I recently experienced with the wheel bearings and the end result.
