I recently installed Wolfbox's powered, retractable tonneau cover on my Maverick’s bed. The cover’s arms extend along the full length of the bed and are topped by a T slot. That got me to thinking how I can make use of them. Previously, I mounted Maxzina’s rooftop cross bars to my truck. Rather than leaving them on, I install them only when I have a need. Other than that, they remain in the garage. The mod I’m contemplating is mounting the Maxzina's roof top cross bars on the bed cover utilizing the cover’s T slots as anchors. Once in place, they will be able to slide forward against the cab rear wall for storing day to day and repositioned to meet the need at other times. The parts I’m gathering will allow that to happen without tools. Instead, I’m incorporating threaded pass-through knobs and t slot bolts to hold the bar uprights in place and to secure the cross bars to the mounts. Securing Maxzina’s cross bars to the vertical mounts utilizing the bars’ T slot requires turning the bars upside down.
My thoughts on this mod continue to evolve. I’m considering adding a cargo basket on top of the bars. I wouldn’t want it to take up the length of the bed. Instead, I’m looking at using a smaller ATV front cargo basket, 36” x 17” x 5”. What do you think?
