Under dash center console mod?

I have been working on modifying the under dash console tray. I absolutely hate the design of it. You can't run a wire to it on either side and have your phone be functionally used if it is. The phone stand hump in particular. I own a 3d printer and no matter what design i come up for to fit over the actual plastic, insert taken out, it still revolves around that stupid phone stand.

My question is has anyone ever cut that phone stand out and if so what is under it? I'd love to design around a flat insert instead of that giant mountain.

To me, ideal would be a wireless charging pad behind that stand. Passenger especially could just set phone there if they're not using it. There was a wireless charger available for the flat spot on the left of it.

My goal was to raise the tray up as high as that hump then make a cavity with the remaining space on that side. The left, flat side, was going to be made where the cable could come up from under and lock in place where you could just slide your phone down onto that cord. Underneath that side would be a place to store the excess wire. The issues with all of these ideas is the space allowed renders the phone useless to interact with. If i could have a low as possible and flat surface i could redesign it to be more useful for passenger and driver. I really really want to cut that stand/hump off.

The charge cables that are 90’ fit fine, however you probably can cut the hump out if you want to modify as you desired

My other irritation with it is why is the phone stand on the passenger side and not the driver side....
