Just put 5k on my 2023 XLT Hybrid Maverick. I bought this truck ($23.2k) for travel baseball. (Ordered Nov 11, 2021, received March 2023)
Here are my ramblings about the truck...
1) I have the basic bare bones XLT model with only a hitch added. I really wanted the heated seats and factory sprayed in liner but gosh, it took them 495 days to deliver even after I removed the Lux Package.
2) My wife and son consistently brag on how comfortable the truck is even on the 5-6 hour trips. My son is 17 and about 6' and says he has plenty of leg room. He likes the flip down drink holder in the back. There's room to put a stuff on it too. Fairly tight turn radius for a truck. (Finding ball fields is an adventure and there's a lot of turning around.)
3) It's a car with a truck bed. Very comfortable ride. I'm amazed at the cornering abilities and how well the truck "tracks" on the road. Like a train on a track.
4) The truck bed allows for ball gear, cooler, Coleman portable grill, chairs and tons of luggage. With the OEDRO brand hard topper, I don't have to worry about rain and also keeps the contents out of site for theft. (Make sure you buy a cooler that can fit under the 19-3/4" with the bed topper.)
5) Great fuel economy. I've averaged about 38 mpg since received in April 23. I have been able to squeak 600 gallons out of a tank of gas though!
6) I really thought I needed remote start, but the FordPass app has been a lifesaver! The ability for the truck to run the A/C while we have the sometimes long walks back to the truck, allows it to cool down. The sun takes it out of you and coming to a cooled down truck is refreshing!
Now for my gripes...
1) Noises. Oh the noises. The truck will make relay clicking noises long after it shuts off. I swore one day it acted like it wanted to keep running after I took the key out and it sounded like it was running out of fuel. (Has only done it once, but puts a guy on edge.)
2) The rotary dial shifter. I have a love/hate relationship with this thing. I have turned the truck off in drive. No issue here. It's in park when I turn it back on. I'll admit, I've turned the radio down thinking I've put it in Park and there have been a few occasions where I thought I had it in Park only to let off the brake to feel the truck move forward. I do try to hear the nice chirp noise when I put it in park. I can say I got used to it rather quickly and although I hated it at first, I've learned to understand the simplicity of the dial indicator and I kind of actually like it now.
3) Crash avoidance. I've seen the red crash avoidance screen about a half a dozen times. Only once did it help and on a few occasions it was just an annoyance. Better safe than sorry I suppose.
4) Apple CarPlay works 98% of the time...but when you need it the most, it seems like it locks up. Usually a unplug, plug back in situation, but an annoyance, nonetheless.
5) Stereo is decent, but only at higher volumes. I will upgrade this in the future.
6)Sunglass holder. This was an intern's design. Made as cheaply possible and I would be surprised if more than half of the units out there don't have the spring on the passenger side already coming out of it's clip holder. (The keeper leg for the windup on the spring is too short.)
All in all, I would buy it again!
