Was really surprised this afternoon when I received a second production scheduled email from Ford. We ordered the second truck from Granger as a new 24 order for my daughter. Our 23 rollover is scheduled for build Oct 16 and the new Granger order is scheduled for Oct 30th. Both are Lariat Hybrids in Terrain with sunroof. My daughter has changed her mind and no longer wants the truck. I would hate to leave this as a dealer stock for resale with a huge markup. I had originally planned to have this shipped to Texas. I would not mind reselling it if I did not have to title and register it or pay the state sales tax. What would you all do?

Granger sells Mav refusals to anyone in IA at MSRP. I've heard rumors they only mark up non custom sales to out of state folks a little.

You'd have to title and register it before it could be sold.

Let Granger keep it.

It’s not yours to resell if you don’t buy it, the dealer owns it. Also since the order bank is still open and the market itself is changing rapidly I believe the days of making profits are over as well as dealership markups (adm’s).

I would notify Granger that you have decided not to purchase it. If allocation decisions are based on sales to the person on the COVP, Granger may decide to cancel the order instead of have it come in. Give them the option to decide what to do with it.

Too bad it's not at the other end of the spectrum -- XL Hybrid -- since I would cancel our MY24 order and take it.

I'm not sure how it's going to play out. Have a couple of people in the family that may want to buy it. Still have time to figure all that out since it's not scheduled for build until the end of October. These have been so hard to come by and I just wanted to save someone the wait.

cancel the order and then someone else who has been waiting will get their truck

I'm not going to do anything until I have one sitting in my garage. Who knows what can happen between now and build delivery dates.

I agree with @wax87

I think your reasoning takes away an opportunity from someone else who has an order and plans on buying it. If you cancel the order, the allocation Ford gave to Granger that resulted in your truck being scheduled could be opened back up and assigned to another Granger customer who plans on purchasing their truck. This is good for the customer, and it helps Granger get more allocations (since they are selling to the COVP customer -- which is factored into their allocations).

If a family member wants a Maverick, tell them to place an order since the order banks are still open. This way, Granger gets the sale of a Maverick to the customer on the COVP.

Everyone wins.

P.S. According to the latest scheduling and constraints we saw this week, the order banks are open because there is lots of capacity for hybrids as well as Ecoboosts available. I don't think I will have to wait as long for our XL Hybrid as I expected.
