Traction control and change in sound.

Had anyone read about what happens when you turn traction control off?

I was playing with it yesterday, just driving 80kmh, and there's a distinctive change in engine sound when you turn off traction control. It's almost like it would be locking up the tranny as opposed to when traction control is ON (less low noise).

May have locked or unlocked a differential or torque converter?

That's kind of a high speed to be playing with that- generally you'd want to leave it on unless you're slipping at low speed.

If it was 4x4 lock I would agree about the speed, but not traction control.

Doesn't the Tremor have "engine sound" pumped in through the stereo, or is that just the new Lobo?

I mean, I still can't think of a reason that Ford would change the sound when you turn TC off, but could that be the difference you are hearing?

It's definitely not the pumped in sound that I'm hearing, it's like drivetrain noise that increases when TC is off, which made me think of lockup

I wonder if there's a pump that's holding actuators primed, which then turns off.

I notice having traction control off in low speeds there’s a very distinctive engine sound difference, it wants to lug at low speeds a lot more than with it on.
