Hello!

I like to tool around, but I am not a tech or electrical genius.

I need to wire in a resistor for some LED brake/turn bulbs (VLED). I need to snap on the resistor to the negative and positive (I assume), but I have too many options to figure this out.

This is for the top bulb, if that means anything. The lower bulbs are brighter and have an inline resistor/plug and play. But that set up won’t fit the top position due to limited space behind it for seating the housing back correctly.

So the question is, which colors do I snap onto? The combination I could try is almost endless and certainly will destroy the wires in my attempts. 🤭

Honestly, you're making this much harder than it needs to be. Install whatever bulbs you want without any resistors or extra things to fail and/or ruin your wiring, and just disable to bulb outage with Forscan. It's easy, probably cheaper than resistors ($40), and is completely reversible -- all with the same effect.

I have been avoiding the dealership so they wouldn't do the recall. But my rear caliper froze and warped rotor, etc., so I had to go in (warranty). So naturally I'm in the same boat with the dash hyper flash. Apparently I'm stuck going with resistors because Forscan is not available any more.
Hopefully more people will post with more solutions.

Sounds easy enough, but I am not a tech or electrical genius. I have watched videos on that stuff, and it’s way over my head. I already have the resistors, so cheap route for me would be going the normal resistor route.

No joke. Been in for repairs or recalls so much in the last year. This last time the roof had been leaking, a gasket on the roof antenna wasn’t installed. Ford legit asked me if I had the gasket for it. 🙄 They had my car for two weeks, and ended up scratching my window tint in the process. I’ve been a Ford guy for a long time, but this Maverick is wearing me down.

Looks to still be available for the free trial, just not available for purchase. You can do everything with the trial version anyway.

It's really pretty easy- I'd put it on the same level as setting up an account here, logging in, and posting. Once you install the software, it's literally 2-3 clicks to connect and get to the right module, then just drop-down menus to turn off the outage notification. It really is a much better fix for the cost of a $40 cable. And then you can do more if you feel more confident.
