I have this idea in my head, which means maybe dumb. I saw a red truck with one of those long fiberglass (I figure) solid covers. The ones that tilt up to expose the bed. So my off the wall idea, one prior, was to add a wide white stripe on the hood of my Area51 color mav. Though if I get the sunroof maybe that is not a good idea.

Anyway, with all these various covers for the bed I could instead get a white one piece (thought the brand name started with an ‘L’ as I drove by it).
So questions -
1. Guessing these are expensive.
2. What brands to consider
3. Could they be taken off by one person and maybe fit in the truck bed to put things in the bed if needed when out and about

Thinking maybe this idea would be very expensive for the hood stripe plus cost of the one piece bed cover.

I don’t have a need to hide things but for sure anything tossed in a bed not covered is asking to be taken now days it seems. It would be more for looks plus maybe better water protection maybe.

Was just thinking it might look cool, maybe a French vanilla ice cream color with same colored letter inserts on the tail ‘maverick’ name section. I have never tried to pimp my ride before but maybe this would look different and sort of cool.

If not welcome to begin laughing now if wanted.

It was probably made by Lund. Honestly, those seem to be about the worst option for a bed cover. There are so many good looking/functional rolling (soft covers, aluminum hard), or folding panel options out there.

Those giant fiberglass lifting covers are not intended to be removed either - they are a forever type of option - and definitely not removable by 1 person!

Soft folding/rolling options run $300-500 currently.

Hard rolling/folding around $850 to $1,200 (discounted...search the forum and read up on options).

Beyond that you start getting to sliding style covers that retract into a box in the bed (which takes up space), those are $1,500+

a full on bed cap (the ones that have windows and extend the roofline back to the back of the truck) are about $3K, I think there is only 1 option out there presently.

Thanks, sort of guessing it would cost a lot. Think the brand tag on cover was lariat if I recall. Was sort of hoping the mav bed was so small one person could undo the connectors then spin a bit and lift off to sit in the bed somehow. No worries, will keep exploring.

Maybe someone will make collapsible half or quarter tool box. Something were you could unhook the front and top then have full access to entire bed. Yet when not unfolded would be a secure lockable box. Have seen those silver plated ones in trucks just not one that is a transformer like the bumble bee car in that movie :)

For what it's worth, I've seen people remove entire bed covers using only a hoist. If you have the right set-up, you could remove that hard tonneau by yourself.

I am going to diy a flat cover and a cap cover. Should have flat cover designed and prototyped 4 mo after I get truck. Depending on how things work out I may post info?
On cap it gets too complicated pretty quick. Once I get patterns and jigs made I may have to make 10-15 to sell to pay for all that!😂☹
