Skid plate removal

What if I just left the skid plate(s) off after I changed the oil/filter? Wouldn't my Mav be just the same as every other car on the road without a skid plat?

Yup, the plates are just there for show, and for off road adventures. Just dead weight for road use, but they do have some aerodynamic properties, might see a change in MPG.
