Shipping Delays

A lot of people wait a long time to get theirs scheduled to be built. I waited 13 months to be "in production". But waiting almost 3 months in "shipping" is almost worse and a little ridiculous. Ford says they have little or no control once they pass it off to the shipper. I guess I'm getting the most of my $1,500 shipping fee. Kind of like my golf game. The more strokes I take, the less they cost.

Good analogy ! I confused on shipping thou! Apparently mine went by truck. Ford rep said in a chat message the carrier was Convoy. I thought they went by rail to border than on truck.

My sticker also said Convoy. The explanation i got is: some rail companies have rail cars on the plant grounds and trucks are loaded directly on the rail cars. Others have to be trucked to offsite rail yards and then loaded onto rail cars. Those are "convoy". You are correct that every vehicle leaves Mexico by rail.

Officially built on the 13th. Pretty sure it was completed late
Nov. No movement yet. Chat still says delivery to Houston early Jan.

Wondering if you had any movement. I'm in a similar boat. Built 12/23 and still MIA in Nogales en route to Houston. Tracker keeps pushing back day-by-day and now says 2/13 - 2/26

Mine got delivered to Autonation Katy on 1/22. Picked it up the next day. Good luck!

PS - the tracker is terrible. Check with your dealer directly. Or watch for “updated date to change”. It will update once it is u loaded at the local rail yard (there are 2 different ones in Houston) and again once it’s loaded on truck transport to the dealership, then likely the next day it will update one last time and switch to “final prep “ or something like that. Meanwhile the estimated delivery dates will still be off by like 2 weeks.

Hope the F&I guy didn’t get you on any of the add ons. Overall my experience with Autonation Katy was good. They worked with me to get the $500 Farm Bureau rebate after the sale which was honestly more than I expected.

They tried initially, but I held them off. One of their initial fluff items was SIBL which i thought was pretty scummy, but i never had to actually call them on it being included in the Lariat package. They honored my X-plan discount as well without much hassle. Only thing they really caused friction on was external financing, but they were able to rate match so it was no big deal.

Not sure I would actually recommend them. While the outcome was fine (no markup/bs), my sales rep was a pain to get ANY information out of over the last 1.5 years and like I mentioned was laissez faire when it came to my order. I still believe if it had arrived the day after I left out of town it would have been gone before I got back. I knew it was on the lot before he did.

Haha, good for you. They came out with like 4 things added on for me with the base XLT order. Didn’t have to protest much to get those off but I did have to push hard to get a good trade in value. I had done my homework and eventually they came up to matching it.

FWIW, I bought a ‘23 at Helfman and had a much better experience. I do recommend them.
