2024 Ford Maverick XLT Azure Gray, hybrid with copilot, spray in bedliner and factory hitch -Salvage Title- 7000 miles, $14,000 obo

This is a sad story, we special ordered this Maverick for my daughter, waited eight months for it, she put 7000 miles on it her senior year of high school, and then got hit on the driver side by a kid riding a dirtbike that ran a red light.

We bought it back from the insurance company and are currently waiting for the New York State salvage title to be returned to us. There are no liens on the vehicle.

What I know about the car, firstly, I am not a body man nor a mechanic but I’ve been a car enthusiast my whole life. Immediately after the accident my daughter called me, I was literally only four minutes away so I drove right to the accident scene. After the police cleared the scene, the vehicle was driven up onto the tow truck and brought to the body shop where it’s sat until it was totaled by the insurance company.

Mechanically it still starts and runs and drives. There are many check engine light codes, you can clearly see that the wiring harness going into the computer is damaged, I don’t see any damage in the engine compartment. From my untrained eye I don’t see any frame or suspension damage in the left front.

The rest of the vehicle is in excellent condition in my opinion. Feel free to message me with any questions, I am located in Poughkeepsie New York. I am not a dealer or mechanic, I am just trying to sell my personal vehicle.

Just wondering, but why'd you opt to buy it back and try to sell it whole instead of take the check? I've bought back vehicles only because the "damage" was basically nothing (had an old motorcycle that fell over in a parking lot), or because I opted to part it out then sold the scraps to a "we haul junk cars" place.

You're gonna have a bit of an uphill battle selling a complete but damaged late-model used car with a salvage title as a private owner. Insurance companies would just send the thing to auction where a body shop or salvage yard would then pick it up and either fix it and sell it cheap with a rebuilt title or just part it out and crush the rest.

you definitely might be right, and there might not be a market for this. But I figured I’d give it a try and see what happens. I think for the right person, they might be able to fix this for less than 5000 bucks and have themselves an almost new hybrid Maverick for cheap money.

if no one wants it, I’m just going to put it back together myself and keep it.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

No, the airbags did not deploy, the driver window actually still goes up and down halfway!

I can see how the damage on the door was done by a bike but how did the front corner get crunched like that? Did she run into something after the bike hit her?

All from the same accident, I’m not sure of the full mechanics of how it happened, the kid was riding a CRF250 and admitted that he ran the red light, of course he had no insurance or registration.

Also most mainline auto insurers won't provide full coverage for a salvage or rebuilt title...usually just liability only if they choose to insure it at all. And most banks won't write an auto loan for a salvage or rebuilt title since it can't have full coverage.
