My oldest brother and his wife are dealing with their daughter who without divine intervention has terminal cancer. They're taking care of her full time where she is. But they were in town at their home today preparing their home,so they can bring her here. Anyway. My oldest brother and I often talk cars and other random stuff. But haven't been able to do so for obvious reasons. Today I showed him my HYBRID MAVERICK. We stood over it and talked technical talk. Then I let him drive it . He likes it and was pleased with the power and handling. I mentioned that the only semi aggravating thing was the E-CVT induced drone under heavy acceleration. He reminded me that he's hard of hearing and didn't really notice. I'm 60. He's 73. But even now having the big brother seal of approval still means a lot. But most of all. I was able to take his mind off of the HEAVY situation he's dealing with. It was a good day. And I was also able to help him and my sister in law get things ready for their daughter as well as haul some trash to the dump. Again, it was a good day.

@Darryl Sorry your family is having to prepare to say good-bye to your niece. May her remaining time be high quality, low pain, and full of peace, love, and contentment.

Glad you and your brother were able to bolster each other's spirits.

Sometimes it's the simple, small things that can make all the difference. I'm glad to hear it was a good day and I hope there are many more on the horizon!

Thank you. We still can't bear to say it. She's only 44 and has a 5 year old. As much as it pains us, I can't imagine how much it pains him and my sister in law as well as my 93 year old mother. She's the oldest granddaughter. One of 4 granddaughters among 16 grandkids. So we're taking the bright spots where we find them

I lost my older brother to cancer when he 45. I remember how hard it was on my Mom and Dad. Your brother will need all the support you can give him. But it sounds like you already are doing that. Yes sometimes the simplest distraction can bring some peace for awhile. My thoughts and prayers to your family.
Thank you. I just wish I could help him like he helped me 9 years ago when I had a motorcycle accident that resulted in the amputation of my left leg below the knee. . He changed the bandages. He was so affected that I had to comfort him. When I got out of surgery, they gave me a pain medicine pump to self administer. The nurse told me that after 15 minutes, it would allow me to administer if needed. He was sitting beside me looking at his watch. When 15 minutes passed, he told reminded me that it was time. I told him I'd wait a little longer. After about 5 more minutes, I felt him touch the button and heard the machine beep. He said he thought I was trying to be a hero. And he refused to let his little brother be in any more pain than necessary. He looks out for all 6 of his younger siblings even though he's 73 and I'm 60 and the rest are in between.
