Forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I stumbled on this video. I knew that nothing was private any longer, but I didn't realize how bad it was. I dumped my vehicles VINs into the website she mentioned and even the 2014 sends everything from my phone to the manufacturer, including location if the police even lightly request it.

Time to buy an original Mav and move to the woods...

I didn't realize how bad it was.

It's bad. And many of the phone apps people freely install are little more than very good data scrapers; the data being sold to data aggregators.

I pulled Fuse# 11, which disables the Telematics modem in the Maverick. And that's the only thing powered by that fuse. No check engine lights or other warnings or notices. Everything else still works. Less drain on your battery when the truck is off, too.

OTOH, one of my daughters employees had their car stolen on Wednesday and the police recovered it and arrested the suspects on Friday using this technology. The employee would have been in a serious hardship otherwise.
