Hi all, new to the group, nice to meet you !
I ordered my maverick xlt hybrid with luxury pkg and copilot 360 on Nov 6th.

I received a call from the dealer in Feb 23 advising that I could drop the 360 and get my truck sooner, however, if I choose to keep the 360 pkg it could be anytime this year or I'd be forced to covert my order into the 2023 model year.

I chose to drop the 360 since I never had it I guessed I wouldn't miss it and new paperwork was issued. Problem is that the new paperwork came with a new price.

Old price all inclusive: 30,188.69
New price all inclusive: 30,075.71 less 360 pkg. Needless to say I was a bit taken aback...

Emailed dealer, no response for 24 plus hours so I dropped in and was told they could do nothing and this was how ford's system worked. I said WTF and was kicked out which pissed me off even more because they didn't want to deal with me from the start which was obvious.

I am calling Ford directly on Monday and barring foul language are there any suggestions or has anyone had the same experience ? I'm curious what the outcome may be and at this point I am assuming the dealership will not honor the interest rate (1.9%) either (to them it's a whole new order) and we all know how that has increased and is increasing everyday.

Disappointed to say the least.

I checked with my dealer to make sure my order was still active. He printed a report for my build that had all the price increases factored in. I was told to ignore the prices. At delivery everything would be correct on a "Vincent" report. After 4 months my order was moved from a priority 19 to a priority 10! I feel so lucky.

You will get your original price (minus the 360 cost). The window sticker that comes with the truck will have the new pricing, but when your dealer does the paperwork, they need to set the date back to the order date, and that will reset the original prices. Same with the finance dept if you are using Ford financing.
Good deal since dealer won't help I will hold out hope that Ford will... We'll see. I'll report the outcome.

Ford has a process to price protect customers who placed orders before a price increase. I don't recall the exact details, but I think it's along the lines of:

1) the ordered vehicle shows up with the increased price on the window sticker
2) dealer discounts customer back to order price
3) dealer obtains the difference back from Ford via an internal process

@fordvideoguy has discussed it on his youtube channel. If you're not familiar with him, subscribe. He shares lots of great Ford and Maverick info from a dealer's perspective.

How is your price $30k? I ordered a XLT with only lux pkg and my msrp is $26k

100% correct!!!
On a special order made prior to the price increase, Is it possible that a dealer could charge the customer the new price, (especially a customer who might not be aware of price protection) and then still submit the price protection to Ford and pocket the difference?

Yea we definitely aren't going to pay more for our truck because Ford has production problems, I've already had my go around with my dealer on their ADM I certainly don't need added grief from Ford!!!!

Thank you this makes me feel better and explains perhaps why the sales manager blurted out "we always sell at MSRP" which struck me as odd since I never questioned their integrity... I repeatedly said why should I pay more and why won't you contact ford on my behalf since my order was placed in Nov and all I did was reduce options. I now have a gauge on their mindset and they've tipped me off to their integrity which was not my goal.

May be exactly what they're doing. Could this still be a world in which women are assumed less informed ? I hate to go there but the exchange was a bit bizarre and left me scratching my head.

So my dealer is apparently a shady dealer. They have ignored my request for original price while feigning ignorance of the price protection. I submitted a complaint with Ford directly but there will be no help there as they said they could not make the dealer honor the price. Now it's a decision of waiting for my truck then filing complaints with consumer affairs, the AG possibly for at minimum deceptive business practices. Or scrapping the whole thing and ordering a 2023 from another dealer or even getting something of another make. I'm not inclined to let this go really. Perhaps a concerted effort by a group such as ourselves appealing as one to ford will have an impact ? I know I'm not the only one.

Hi There,

You may be dealing with a shady dealership.
Or they may just be ignorant of the process. Definitely would probably be better served to approach them with positive intent rather than have an adversarial relationship. For your sake also.

Tim the video guy posted a video or two on how the dealers actually get reimbursed for items. Here is the latest one. You can always provide it to your salesperson. Then they will know how to get reimbursed. And in turn, have the correct pricing adjusted for you.

Hope it works out for you.

They are shady. My interaction with them face to face was the confirmation I needed. I told my sale guy (who is actually decent) what you advised regarding the rebate they will get from Ford and the fact that if they were going to increase my price for removing the 360 they should have told me FIRST. I would have left the order alone but instead I'm paying $100 less than I was with the 360. I submitted a complaint with ford and as above deciding what to do from here. I may write the general manager but likely only after I decide if I can accept my order being cancelled. They already threatened me with that one. My problem in a nutshell - I dislike the injustice or feeling that I can do nothing in the face of dishonesty.

I saw the video and spoke to the dealer. I was told that there is no price protection period. I don't know what else I can say to them I've been calm and not combative at all and filed a complaint after all attempts failed the complaint based on what they said. My in person meet was prior to long macarthur video, sales manager told me they sell at MSRP (new price) and that if I talked or went to another dealer they'd cancel my order. That's when the WTF popped out of my mouth. I had personal response from Tim on what to say to the dealer, I relayed that. They don't care. I'm not sure why anyone should be passive and allow these dealers to walk all over us. I wouldn't allow this in other deals, would you ? Can you imagine buying a house then before final close housing prices go up and the seller says "oh sorry, it's going to be 5k more"? I just want to be treated fairly instead it's with greed and dishonesty. So it comes down to how bad do I want the car and is there anything I can do to stand up against dishonesty either before or after getting the truck. Yes I'm pissed off - it's theft by leverage.
