Power to cigarette lighter mystery.

I was under the impression that the two cigarette lighter power ports in my XL stayed on when the car was turned off. But with the car off I plugged a phone charger in and there was no power. Later I plugged in a Sirius docking station with bluetooth and this time the power stayed on long after I had left the car.
Just wondering if the bluetooth connection caused the lighter power to remain on indefinitely.

Depends on the Sirius unit, many have a battery to maintain power in case of minor power losses or fluctuations, so It may have run on battery power until it went into sleep mode.

The power light on the cigarette lighter power cord is on as well as the Sirius unit, which does not use a battery.
