While I was continuing to tinker with the 3D printing looking for useful stuff to make for the Mav, I'd seen a center console button cover meant to prevent accidental press of the drive mode buttons (primarily from pets). It's a flip-up cover design that I'm sure works fine. But if you regularly access those buttons, I had an idea for something different that might be more convenient.

Again... measure, draw, print, fit, and repeat. Tried a bunch of designs and came up with something that doesn't look too out-of-place.

So here's another item from Lane's Workshop (see my signature below for the other items I make & offer)... the Paw Protector. It's sized to allow your index finger to reach the buttons, but anything that's thumb sized or larger isn't able to.

This is Eagle, and he has thoroughly tested it and provided his approval. If it keeps out an average-sized cat paw, it should be good for most dogs as well.

The final version is made from black ABS and is available for a center console with one row of buttons or two. Each is held in place by good quality 3m VHB foam adhesive tape. The card slot remains accessible when using the one-row model.

This project turned out great so if anyone wants one, I'd send it your way for $10. Add $5 for a flat shipping cost and that covers anything else that you may want to purchase at the same time as well (see my signature for the other items I make & offer). PayPal is strongly preferred as the payment method. If you have an interest, please send me a private message (don't post to this thread).

When we do long trips, we put the dogs and cat in a hammock in the back seat...which means the cat eventually starts walking around the car... and yes... stepping on those buttons.. The trip we took last Friday, we had it happen repeatedly...

So, I just grabbed something from Maxina that has a flip lip... should have it by tomorrow...

If I don't like it, I'll have to check out yours. Had I seen your post first, I would have bought yours as it has no moveable parts so will no doubt last longer.

Dude, that is sick!
Can you make a keyfob case that covers the "Alarm" button? I bought a case like that for my Corolla and loved it as I never accidentally pressed the alarm button again lol
