Ordered New Maverick

This will be my 3rd Maverick. I ordered one yesterday and dealer is telling me builds are in March as well and I should see the truck in April or May. The dealer said their last orders were built in December and they received them in January. My first truck took 2 years to get. We shall see. …….

I feel my local dealer was dishonest. In late December '23 they told me the "maverick order books" were closed and I could not order one. I took that to mean that no one could order mavericks anywhere, not just that dealer due to some allocation limit. The same day I went to a nearby dealer in a smaller town as they actually had a maverick on their lot we could check out and test drive. Then we sat at the computer with the dealer and they put our order in the same day, and I have now received a march '24 build date.

MY2024 Mavericks started to be built around 10/26. Mine was built 12/26... So just 2 months... Shipping took another 2 1/2 weeks (however, I'm very close to the Mexican border in Arizona). Granted, I had a Lariat EB so Ford wants to build and sell those quickly as it's worth some coin and might have been prioritized. It was not a roll-over, I ordered 7/17/23... But agian.. I'm focused on when they actually started to build them..... It would have been physicall impossible to receive it before 11/15 even if it was the very first MY2024 built... So 4 months of my almost 6 month wait was just Ford finishing up MY2023 production.

Anyway, that's my recent experience w/ a 1st time order MY2024... Your mileage may differ.

"Their" Maverick order books were closed.
Rather than tell you that even after they couldn't sell you something else they just let you walk away.
"I feel my local dealer was dishonest" is about the nicest and the nicest way you can describe MOST dealers.
I went to 2 who were lying, cheating, lazy and ignorant before I found one who wasn't.
The first thing one said to me when I said i wanted the XL was "OH, with the base model you'll get the much smaller infotainment screen".
Were they ignorant about that? - or purposely lying trying to upsell? I didn't care just walked out.
The day is coming when we can order vehicles and have them delivered to our driveways. Slowly as Dealerships contribute huge amounts of money to politicians on both sides to keep the rules, regulations and even laws the way they are.
Sorry for the rant, some real bad experiences at dealerships.
But it's coming.

I received mine two weeks after build. Not a month or two. I've read all of the horror stories but that is not today's standard.

Mine took 6 weeks Afer build date

I read these ordering “horror” stories and I wonder how I lucked out. I found a factory new 2024 Lariat FX4 listed on CarGurus on Tuesday and was driving it home on Thursday. I’m being dead serious when I say “WTF”?

Thanks for your support really not in a hurry anyway to get it because interest rates are high right now. Hopefully my dealership is telling me the truth. I believe them because when I was there ordering my truck they had the exact same truck as I ordered that just came in that day and said it took 4 months to get. Also as we were building my truck they told me what things that could hold up the build. So like you said everyone's dealership is different. Thanks again

I work for a dealership. I know how scheduling works. Scheduling usually happens on Thursdays. So you will no sometime tomorrow whether you were scheduled this week or not.

Just ordered my Maverick XL AWD blue. From what I seen on different posts if it's ordered before 1/25/24 the build date would be 3/1/24 does that sound correct. And after I place order what will be my first notification from Ford. Thanks

Lets see, I order my blue Xl hybrid with hitch and co pilot 360 . well in 22 but reordered in 23 for a 24..lol .. have a start build of 2/19 had that for 2 months now.. and even if they start on that date it will be minimum of a month from that plus shipping.. so no.. you don't have a clue.. but good luck. But this is what makes it fun and how you make new friends commiserating ..lol

Has your dealer had that kind quick result from other XL orders it has placed? Personally I would expect something more like 6 months given the low priority Ford apparently gives this model. Good luck in any case!

You nailed it.

If interest rates had remained at historical levels over the last 15 years a new Maverick Lariat would be priced at less than 20k. Now close to $40?

Cheap money always drives the nominal prices of everything upward…..by design.

Why anyone would borrow money for a vehicle is beyond me cause if one carries the loan over the full term one will pay ~25% over and above the already inflated price. Inflated price is a result of cheap money.

Get ready for a long wait! I ordered my XL, 2.0, Turbo, AWD in September of 2022. Still no word as to when it will get here! There are some that have waited longer than my 16+ months!
