Two months after an engine failure following dealer service for two recalls (turn signal issue and PCM Software Update) it happened again. After several attempts to start the truck I was able to drive home more than 100 miles with no issue.
The following day, I took it to my dealer, where I was told a software update from Ford would correct the issue. (Apparently, my dealer resetting the code back in February was nothing more than crossing fingers.) In and out in a couple of hours, the next day I took the truck on a 2,000 mile round trip (Missouri to Wyoming, and back) with no issues. The truck must have ESP, because the February incident was just before making a trip to Niagara Falls (with no issues).
If this new software update was available, then why doesn't Ford notify owners who have been to their dealer with a breakdown?
