Only call it the blanket of death because of the way people act. Anyways after 11 inches of snow my 24 2.0 FWD Maverick was awesome. This is the first time since 1981 that I haven't had 4x4 and I'm quite surprised. Just another reason I'm loving my Maverick.

With proper tires, I have not gotten completely stranded in snow with my FWD Hybrid Maverick.

Yesterday, I did spin the tires and stopped. I was going UP my shady and very steep 1/10 mile long gravel driveway in packed snow. I had the truck in Slippery mode. When it stopped, I turned off Traction Control. I also turned off the heater (which shut off the ICE).
Then, being in Electric Mode only, I carefully & gradually pressed go pedal until the truck began to move, ever so slowly and it crawled up the hill.

FWD, good one-peak ice tires, learning how to actually drive in snow and good throttle feathering make far more difference than AWD ever will.

I miss my ancient VW Karmann Ghia. Skinny tires. RWD. Engine over the driven rear tires. I used to plow through snow a half foot above the bumper in NW PA. No, I'm not making that up.

Never got stuck in that VW. But my feet went through the floor pan when it rusted through. Mended it with some large soup cans. I was a poor college student back then. Same for the muffler. Soup cans and duct tape. Amazed it never caught fire.
