About 10 weeks ago, I purchased my 2024 Ford Maverick brand new. It now has about 1000 miles on it and I've noticed that the truck often seems to have a "surging" with acceleration. At first, I believed this was due to the turbocharger, and I still do think so, but would like confirmation that this is normal for this truck. It's kind of annoying. I've had two Porsche turbos years ago, but I don't recall them being as intrusive. Thanks, Steve.

My first Mav was a 2022 2.0 EB FWD [I purchased off the lot as a place holder while I awaited my hybrid order]

I drove it for 9k miles until my hybrid arrived. I drive with a light foot. I did not disable the stop/start feature. I paused when I moved my foot from the brake to the gas when the light turned green.

The EB engine was smooth, I did not notice turbo lag nor surge. It was as smooth as the 2.0 turbo in my wife's Lexus NX 300. There is something going on if yours is not smooth.

Does this occur under all conditions - normal acceleration and heavy acceleration? Try driving with a light foot. I wonder if it is due to the way you drive, you had sports cars, you accelerate and the higher boost kicks in? Just guessing...

Thanks for your note, much appreciated. This seems to occur under all conditions whether or not the start/ stop feature is on or off. I probably need to do a bit more due diligence to figure out a bit more specificity. I doubt that it has to do with my long history of driving sports cars, as I drive my wife's Toyota Highlander and my old C 1500 pick up and never have had any problems. Thanks again, Steve

Welcome! I dont know about surging. I know mine hauls ass when I get on it. Alot of folks say these high gear count transmissions have a learning process that can take a long time to adapt to your driving. It could also be the other way around lol. It could be both. I doubt you have an actual issue, just might be different than you are used to.

Just back from taking her out for a drive and to pay very special attention to what I perceived as a problem. I believe that Oscarcat is onto something that MaverickMan7 nailed. My wife's Toyota Highlander, which I rarely drive, is the first automatic I've owned in nearly 50 years. So I believe that I'm not used to the shifting of its automatic transmission. It certainly is not as smooth, and it is more pronounced than the Highlander, which is what you would predict and expect. The Highlander, being a semi luxurious SUV for the masses; the Maverick a truck. In all those years that I've been driving, I've done all my own shifting, so having this truck shift for itself is just new to me. I agree that there is no problem, and I will continue to watch this. Thanx for helping me with reassurance about this truck, which I really love. My Chevy pick up was a five speed manual so this is a major change for an old dog like me. Steve.
