Hey!

So, I just learned about the Maverick about a month ago. Since then, I've gone back and forth on it. Finally pulled the trigger with a reservation.
My reservation: Lariat 2.0L AWD, Carbonized Gray, Lux, 4k Tow, FX4, Co-Pilot 360, Tri-Fold Tonneau, Protective Film, Spray-in Bedliner, Splash Guards, Black Rims...

First off, I have heard splash guards are on backorder, so I will be deleting them from my order. Anything else known to be on backorder?
Second, the ecoboost is recommended to use 93 octane for best performance. How much of a performance difference is there between 87 and 93? I've never had a turbo engine, or anything needing premium gas.

Third, anyone else get the protective film? Is it worth it? I've heard it will actually help against rocks and debris etc.
Fourth, I added the 4k tow package just cause. I don't plan on towing anything, any time soon. However, are the upgrades from this package worth it? I'm thinking the FX4 is enough.

Last question. After putting in your reservation, how many of you went back and continued to 2nd guess yourself and continually create different builds? So many choices... Heck, if it weren't for my wife, I would still be flip flopping between Area 51, Alto Blue, Velocity Blue, and Carbonized Gray.

Thanks for reading! Really glad I found this forum and this truck! Excited to see if it lives up to everything we want!

As for the ecoboost, I can't speak specifically to the exact version being used in the Mav, but I have a 2.0l Ecoboost in my 17 Escape and haven't really noticed a huge difference between 87 and 93.
As for the film, I think it could be worth it but I'm opting to go with a local company directly after I take delivery.

Good question about 93 vs 87. I don't know the answer but I will be sample those two along with 89 and 91.
My 20 Ranger (2.3 Ecoboost) lived on a diet of 87 and didn't seem to mind it but if I was doing any serious towing I would opt for premium.
On the Maverick I need the 4k more than the FX4 so left the AWD and FX4 off my build but see where others would want or need it.
Since your build is pretty comprehensive I would leave it as is with the 4k as you might need it one day for towing and it can't hurt resale value.
I don't know anything about protective film so have no opinion.

Can't speak to the correct octane question as I ONLY use Ethanol Free in my vehicles. I currently drive a Hybrid and have ordered a Hybrid.

As to your question about second guessing and flip flopping on options. YEP, guilty as charged. I believe you'll find as you start reading through the forum, most if not all of us have changed our builds. So you're not crazy, you're normal.

Color: I HATE White. They don't offer Yellow. Will never own black or dark blue. So I'm ordering Oxford White. Go figure!

As for your reservation, that is nothing more than your build going to the dealer you selected. PLEASE, if you do anything, shop your purchase around. A lot of dealers are charging MSRP+, MSRP and believe it or not, I know of 2 on this forum that are charging LESS than Invoice. If you're Military/Vet there is an X Plan and $500 Military Discount. So get the BEST DEAL. You can call your local dealer and see what they say. Hang up and call the next one and the next one. There are plenty of options. I live in Florida and am buying from Chapman's Ford Horsham, PA for 4% off Invoice. They will have Ford Drop Ship to a dealer close by (who will accept drop ship) and it is costing me $459. But I'm saving $5,000 by not buying from local dealer. Just to give you an idea.

Once you know where you want to buy your Maverick from, place your order and then wait for your build/order to be Scheduled. By the way, you can make as many changes to your order UP UNTIL it is Scheduled. Once it's scheduled, NO MORE CHANGES allowed.

Good Luck.

I am going to start working with a dealer that I believe to be very reputable. I'll go in with my build and the MSRP and question any financials that don't seem right. Really, I've got nothing to lose. If I don't like what they're saying, I walk away. They lose a sale. Can't believe dealers are out there actually doing stupid tactics like this! Thanks for the heads up!
