August 6th order on the train arriving mid March...Looks like I slipped through the build and shipping process before a "no build' week. Bidding has started on the resale of my 2004 Pilot, one owner. I can also claim I grew up riding in a yellow Maverick two door, banana yellow with a black interior, complete with plenty of "bondo" on the rear quarter panel. The past Maverick was the first family "second car' that four of my siblings learned to drive in. Maverick memories past!

I’m close! As a kid my Dad had two Mercury Comets which were essentially the same as the Maverick. One he bought for $25 and it ran good enough for us to drive home!

My sisters first car was a 71 or 72 Maverick the same color as the one you had. She made it even worse with an Earl Schieb blue-green re-paint. Her car was optioned with the 302 auto and AC. PS but no power brakes. It was quick for a 2 barrel carb. It was fun to drive despite the color. One wheel peels were pretty easy in that car. If she ever finds a picture of it I will post it.

I had an olive green Maverick for a few years in the late '70s. My Mazda pickup with a rotary engine, same as the RX7 with a Ford Courier body, was sabatoged by the Mazda garage I was going to at the time as they wanted to buy it from me. They gave me a shorter oil dipstick, and handed me somebody else's spark plugs for a year and a half. It was an awesome little truck, so much fun in high school.

When my engine finally blew up my best friend's brother traded me straight across for his wife's olive green Maverick. It was my first automatic transmission, and I enjoyed driving it very much! So much easier in traffic, and it was a nice change to have a trunk.

I drove it until my mother gave me an old Chrysler K-car that was a LOT newer than the Maverick, and it wasn't that god awful olive green color. It had an 8-track tape player in it! I gave the Maverick to my little brother for his 16th birthday as a surprise, but he never got his driver's license so my Dad drove it until it kicked the bucket.

I ordered my Maverick truck in August too, and they started building last Friday 2/18/2022! Oxford while XLT - I can't wait!

PS Who else can share multiple generation Maverick experience?
I actually learned to drive on a Ford Maverick - no power anything and 3 on the tree. It really wasn't fun to drive but I was 13 so...
