Hi all. Recovering mid-90s, early 00 serial vehicle owner here (BMW, MINI, Land Rover). After a decade of wasting money on cars that don't really get me what I need, and keeping an eye on the Mav the past few years, I finally decided to purchase my first brand-new, off-the-lot vehicle. I wanted something that had a good warranty, was relatively utilitarian, no leather (I'm in FL), and something I'd be comfortable taking on mild overlanding/back road trips. I also didn't want a CVT. The Mav fit the bill, at least on paper.

Going for a test drive with the wife, who was skeptical about my latest vehicular dalliance, I was pleasantly surprised that she immediately took to the truck, so... that sealed the deal.

It's a 2024 XLT FX4, white, with the luxury package and upgraded wheel size. I think the wheel size compliments the truck's proportions perfectly.

Of course, I had to immediately order some add-ons, including:
CravenSpeed Stubby before and after, if anyone wants a reference. I'm still not 100% sure I'll stick with this. I have to imagine it might have some sort of negligible improvement on fuel efficiency...?

I've got an appointment next week for a 3 year ceramic coat, which'll take 2-3 days.

I'm not planning on going too much crazier with add-ons and mods. That said I am interested in:
  • the UPR catch can kit. I do a lot of in-town driving and from what I'm seeing those can help collecting moisture that might not get burned off (I'm having flashback to my MINI N14 turbo days here)
  • Down the road, a bed rack, when I can justify the spend
  • Some form of a MOLLE seatback panel, probably the ones from BROG
  • Installation of an air compressor, either in the rear cubby or an ARB under the hood
  • ... that's it? I like the style and am not doing to do a ton of visual mods

Congratulations, it looks great. A couple mods that may interest you. A hard tri-fold tonneau cover. Easily removable when needing the whole bed or just fold up to accommodate 3/4 of the bed. It also offers safety, and security for items you may want to carry or transport in the bed. Also keeps the groceries dry and not blowing down the road.

Also I like having a small trash can in my vehicle. Mabetts I believe makes one that attaches to the back side of the console. So it's in the back seat with two additional cup holders. You can still easily reach the bottles or the trash bin from the front seat. Which makes it very efficient for long trips or extra cup holders at the drive thru.

Another thing to remember if your going off road are pull straps, jumper cables, small shovel, some type of traction boards or mats. I opted for mats because folded they fit under the seat. Lastly you may want to consider a small first aid kit.

Congratulations on your first new truck slash vehicle. It looks sharp but I'm partial to white.

Thanks @Hunters Edge. It actually came with an OEM tonneau cover with which I am pretty happy.

I’m definitely feeling the need to have some sort of trash organizer in the backseat, so I’ll take a look at that option.

I’ve been into Land Rovers for the past couple of years, so I have a bunch of recovery equipment. My GoTreads folding traction boards have been awesome, I’ve even recovered a Corvette on the beach with them. I should be able to find my spot for them.

I also recommend replacing the inferior jack and useless lug nut wrench with something beefier. I just about twisted mine into a pretzel trying to use it. It looks pretty behind the seat, but not useful.
Otherwise great choice. Nice truck. Good options and IMHO the right upgrades.
