@MRTperformance MRT Street Race single exit w/black ops tip installed.

Well I see their isn’t a specific category for exhaust threads so I’m posting here (rather than in the classifieds as I mistakenly did last time😂)

Could be said this is the first major modification I’ve done yet but depends on how one would rate ‘major’.

Anyways, as title states, I got busy and did a Maverick thing today!

Long story short (there’s a clear start and finish but to keep it short)to say I’m extremely pleased would be an understatement!

I commented a review on the YouTube video review of this exhaust but I’ll restate:

Handling difference is noticeable instantly as the heavier stock exhaust isn’t lumbering back and forth any longer. I felt it when I backed out of my driveway.

Throttle response and seemingly thus shifts are improved though this may be due to the combination with the Turbosmart BOV I installed last week.

I’m more than enjoying the exhaust note! Present but not loud.

There! I kept it short!😆

Yes, I also finished the ZEP BAP taillight mod. I threw in the second pic because the sky was darker and i think the mod can be seen more clearly. And yes, I installed the Air Design cab and tailgate spoilers, just didn’t make a post about them, so, there ya go, four mods in one post!😈 (Six if you count the Weathertech vent visors/wind deflectors and the not pictured conspiracy textured black MASSIVE front strut tower bar. Seven if you count the Mabett trailer hitch rear bumper cover)

Depends on your application and your taste really. I WAS going to use the off road turndown end just because I’m going to be lowered on coilovers (when they finally get here) but I opted for the rear exit instead. Black tip because I’m not trying to be flashy at all. Personally I’m very used to rear exit exhaust. I’m not opposed to side exit, I just don’t want it on my truck.

Is the ZEP tail light mod difficult or easy?

Overall the ZEP mod is simple. EASY is relative🤣

If you are confident you can remove the taillight housing you should feel confident you can perform this mod.

The ZEP industrial degreaser is about $20, bought mine at Lowe’s. Use 50/50 mix ZEP degreaser and distilled water. (Don’t ever let anyone drink distilled water! It can kill IIRC)

Use a funnel and maybe a foot of tubing that will fit on the end of the funnel tip and will fit into the housing. Lay the housing on its flat side, insert the hose past the cup area, and fill with enough mix to fill the side reflector area.. Only needs to sit around 20-25 mins per area. You may have better luck than I did if you use a bit more liquid mix poured into the housing. I was overly cautious not wanting to remove reflective material from the cups so this took me perhaps longer than necessary.

you will need to reposition the housing as needed to get the different areas reflective material removed. It may appear fluid is going where you don’t want it but just be sure you don’t overfill up to the cups and you should be fine.

Give yourself enough time set aside to do this process! I didn’t and frustrated myself.
I still haven’t completely removed the last bit of water from the housing. There’s enough that stays trapped I don’t know if I will bother with the hair dryer as some do. I may CAREFULLY drill a small hole on the bottom of the housing and drain it that way and use compressed air/blow gun to push out the last few drops, then plug it with a small piece of rubber, or I have plastic filler from my work I may use, the UV activated liquid that dries/hardens with a Uv light.

That’s it though.
Haven’t looked much so I don’t know exactly how much the “smoked” taillight housing go for.

I did just find these LED taillight housings on Amazon for just over $100 per side. They come either stick reflective or “BAP” “smoked” and what’s nice is there is a small added red LED light added in the center of where the large reflector on the side is.

if I was flush rn I would probably but then despite loving how my ZEP mod turned out.

This ZEP mod is the most cost effective and well worth the satisfaction of changing the appearance and knowing you did something yourself on your vehicle.
