I bought a cheap Center console bin and mount the radio and remote speaker in it. Then pit the radio under the rear seat. Then used a tailgate bracket for the antenna.
I mounted an FTM-150R in Maverick. The main unit is under the back seat and the head is mounted above the entertainment screen. I used Bullet Point mounts for that. I can send some photos later, if you are still interested.
Revisiting an old thread.
My Yaesu 991 is too big for a between the seats mounting. I am going to try to secure it to this drop-in package tray for the dash...
Here's the 991 on the dash. I used the Amazon dash cubby and added a 3D-printed piece that the radio just sits on. The rear feet of the radio go into the piece and the piece itself slots onto the back of the cubby. Between the rear piece sitting in its slot and the front bale of the radio it's not moving around. Gravity keeps it in place, yet when I park and want to remove/hide the radio I just lift it up. Alternatively I could have bolted in some metal brackets but this should work for me.
Full disclosure I won't keep the radio in the truck at all unless we're going on an extended road trip.
I gave up on putting the 991 up on the dash since it was within hitting distance of the passenger air bag, but my VHF/UHF dual bander with remote head works great.
I bent a small piece of aluminum stock screwed to the radio bracket and have it just hanging from the open slot of the center console. For the head unit, I sticky-taped a magnet on this drop-in plastic piece that fits in the dash cubby. Power from the under-seat battery and a small mag-mount that I pop on the roof when needed. Works great, and I can pull the whole thing out in about 10 seconds.
