seen a few photos this week. Ford can use the Mustang name on anything it wants but this is not a main stream Mustang but another take on a GT40/GT
Don't get me wrong I welcome it and no it isn't meh, it's a halo project to promote the brand.

Yes, Ford will not kill the traditional Mustang as GM did with the Corvette. But the Corvette will have a more fitting competitor.

Multimatic also builds the Mustang GT4 for Ford. That is 100% a Mustang. And so is this when it receives Mustang badging and is titled as a Mustang. It's not on an S650 Chassis, but it will be a Mustang. The Maverick Truck is not a "Maverick" to the Maverick car lovers. But Ford named it a Maverick, so a Maverick it is. Carry on.

From a cost standpoint this product if it is, in fact, a revised GT40 will be substantially more expensive than C8 Corvettes which are a beautifully engineered bargain starting at around 65K...
