It is so awesome when my cheapness meshes with what I like anyway.I find beauty in the strangest things. But these look so cool to me. The machining shines through the black. I am getting them mounted today….

So rims come with a bigger center hub size to fit many auto manufacturers. I think the rims were 74.1 MM and the ford is 64.3 MM (do not quote me on sizes check wheel-size.com). So they make a plastic bushing to fit the hub. You have to have them. You CANNOT trust your lugs to center a wheel. DO NOT buy aluminum bushings. They corrode and stuck as well as deform. Plastic is your best bet. The wheels will never fuse to the hub.So what do the hub centric rings do?
Thats the beauty of it. You can make it your own, however you like. I will love the steelies all winter long. With me it's salt. Wheels take a beating in Maine. I prefer a summer set with smooth tires and a nice finish and a Winter set (that can take the abuse) with studs. And I do not have to pay $124x2 dismount, mount and rebalance twice on my OEM rims and that process damages wheels too. Plus I get double the tire life as 1/2 with snows and 1/2 with summers. I also love a perfectly balanced set of tires, and having them mounted like this, maintains the balance. At the first snowfall, I will be in by driveway switching them over and storing them for Spring. To me it is small money to have convenience and smoothness. It is so awesome when my cheapness meshes with what I like anyway.
Everything about the Maverick XL is that way for me.
From the black interior to the Steel wheels.
I prefer the standard silver painted steel wheels.
But to each his own.
